... does it not feel like 2011? Contenders early (more so than now) then lost all form through the middle of the season and really fell into a grand final on the back of champion players, rather than form or a top 2 game plan?
Personally There has been so many more negatives from the last 6-7 games and today we lost 3 qtrs..
I guess the positive is we’re outright second and can play so much better but I honestly can’t see where it’s coming from.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people can be so negative after a win.

This is exactly like 2011 - except that, this time, it's Geelong playing the "early contender, fell over later" role.

Wouldn't it be nice to turn the tables on them as they did to us in 2011 them smug pricks, so nice to see them lose last night.

I can see the OP's point.

This year, we've been playing in bursts rather than in a consistent four-quarter effort the way we were last year.

Last year was a surprise, so the expectations of supporters was lower and any win was met with surprise and adulation. Whereas this year, the expectations have increased which has led to more frustration when the team isn't living up to expectations.

There's elements of 2011, but I still regard the 2011 team as an unbeatable juggernaut (except against Geelong) whereas this current team is beatable on a bad day. We're progressing well, but there's a massive scope for improvement.

Agreed and we are still missing a chunk of talent on the park. Our best team was probably against port with the exception of Wells.

Our early season form in 2011 was scintillating. Our form after 13 rounds in 2019 has been spasmodic with only glimpses of great.

I just hope we can elevate it when it comes to September. There have been a litany of GF's that have got away, but I still shudder at 2011. A 20-2 season with a percentage of 168 and no silverware. Sad
