I’ll take the win thanks but god that was awful! The atmosphere and it was colder than the MCG! Bulldog family in front of us with four feral kids that were the best advert I’ve ever seen for birth control

At least I can go home!!

Well done boys!!

My sista in law is a one eyed doggie, as are 4 of her grandkids, BUT, one of em switched over to the Pies just prior to last time we played the dogs, she was staggered, but made me have a good laugh. Shes ok to watch the game iwith tho, brings along enough foil wrapped pies, snag rolls, thermos full of hot dogs, rolls, to feed the whole bloody German 6th army, and shes no tightass, feeds us all, !! Laughing

A win.A puke worthy win at that. They looked like they were trying to lose.Worst game from Varcoe I've ever seen. But we're sitting pretty in 2nd spot,1 game clear and one off the top.I'll take that.

Varcoe's games can not be judged on what you see on TV.

Varcoes game:

16 disposals, 10 contested. 81% efficiency.

5 intercepts. 2 turnovers.

6 score involvements and 1 goal assist.

Wouldnt be in the votes, but far from worst on ground. These numbers are what I think we can expect from a 31 year old. It's clear that he is not the player he was when he was a bit younger, but still a valued part of the team. Will make way when the time is right.

Exactly. No one works harder than Varcoe and in this measurement alone, he provides an example to the rest of the team.

He’s obviously getting close to the end but there is one thing he can do that no one else in that team has a single clue about - being front and centre in a marking contest. His positioning continues to be brilliant but his execution ( mainly in the first half ) wasn’t quite at the level required today.

^ I don't know why in all these years no one else has learnt how to get front and centre and crumb the thing.

8 goals came from our talls.
Good effort.
That goal from Grundy was amazing.

Its always a scrap with the flea bags we did enough and will hopefully build from this Chop with 3 goals is very handy , Grundy brillant again, Crisp tough as they come and Varcoe finding his way again. I hope that Howe's calf isn't too bad. Handy having Shaz hitting form in the VFL.

If he’s ready, he’s a ready-made for Howie.

Bucks says Howe knicked his calf —a soft tissue injury

Looking at VFL stocks

Noble had 21 pocessions across half back
Shaz had 33 “. “. “. “. “ and 16 marks

Apart from other ready to go players here is two more to call on in the near future

Oops didn’t see last post on Shaz

Hopefully it's not the Ben Reid calf injury for Howe - that kept Reidy out for nearly 2 years

The players that impressed me and I thought had a telling influence today:
* Brodie Grundy - BOG by a mile. Goes without saying, that we would've been stuffed without him!!
* Callum Brown - ran and ran and worked his heart out. I don't know if he was "on" Caleb Daniels or not, but he won important ground balls and ran his heart out all match. He was instrumental in forward pushes in the last quarter - is becoming quite the last quarter specialist.
* JDG - for his pure strength !! It's amazing!!
* Ben Reid - very much appreciated his aerial strength today
* Jordan Roughead - our best tall defender today. Very reliable.

Solid win today - yes we played poorly, yes we didn't click into gear, but credit to the Dogs - they adopted the Freo game plan and this time we held on.

A few blokes down, but we're sitting nicely in second with bigger tests to come in the next month.

Grundy was amazing today - he's the best ruck man I've ever seen.

It's such a fundamental skill isn't it. Hope we keep him on as a specialist in this respect when his playing days are over.

Bucks was not as forthcoming on BG as the supporters

Said his first half he was down but improved second half

He also said he had stern words with him and other players at half time but concluded that players were dirty on themselves as well
