Post subject: Magpies to build GOLDSACK Centre | |
|
After seeing the success of MSAC in south melbourne. Collingwood have decided to build something of a similar nature in Melbourne's South East right in the heart of arch rivals St Kilda's heart land on East Boundary Road. The centre itself will be named after 2010 Premiership Hero Tyson Goldsack. Goldsack in fact was the man to kick the first goal into the hearts of the long suffering Saints.
" Yeah its a total buzz" said Goldsack via skye from Arizona. " Knowing my goal will be on loop to bathers and people doing weights is an honor".
" Also having been given a golden key to the centre and I can simply go there any time and throw people down a waterslide is quite proactive".
Collingwood have added a multi media trivia section where fans can catch up on questions like who was the last St Kilda Captain to play in a premiership?
74.3% said Steven Sziller
24.7% said Jamie Shanahan. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

Memory fade...
Did we try to dump Goldsack on St Kilda to get Ball?

yes, its a joke.
Glen Eira Council with funding is building a humungous swim / gym complex that is OTT & very pricey. However, it will have great facilities including a fabuluous looking water slide & cater for a lot of different sports.
It's called GESAC & is located on East Boundary Road, East Bentleigh.

Before council amalgamations there was a pool (still is) called the Carnegie Memorial Swim Centre which consisted of a 50 meter pool, a smaller pool with a water slide & a toddlers pool as well as a dive pool all outdoors.
Neighbouring Bentleigh also had a pool complex - out doors was in a different council then. Post amalgamation Glen Eira inherited two pools. The politics of the time also had it that people on the south side of the council - south of North road (I'm not being smart) felt that the northern part of the area were getting favourable treatment so building a complex where it is now helped to assuage (sorry - I'll be wating for the Julian lines) those type of concerns.
Post amalgamations, with a council set against spending money on public assets they chose to rationalize. Praise too to the the many community minded folk who have been organizing for pool redevlopments etc. Unfortuately what they got is a huge corporate complex which will be fine for those who can afford to pay - in fact it will be fantastic for those.
The nostalgia with old pools like Brunny baths in my youth & Carnegie pools were the signs: No running, no diving, no necking, no horseplay... _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman

Gladstone Small
I hear Rod Carter tried to sneak in too...had a phone on his shoulder and was pretending to talk to Geoff Edlesten. Fooled noboby. "Read the sign mate!" said the pool attendant. _________________ "MAKE COLLINGWOOD GRATE AGAIN" |

Don't forget the Harold Holt Memorial swimming pool. You have to love the irony of naming a swimming pool after a PM who drowned. _________________ How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say? |

No chance. 3rd is one of our more serious posters. He has no sense of humour and is always totally literal in everything he says. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Quoting myself is a worry.
But as a kid those words on a sign at the local pool always fascinated me.
There was a list of signs at local public swimming pools in the 60's of what you couldn't do when I was at primary school.
The other one was not swimming for 1 hr after eating - although I'm not sure that was on a sign. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Only a pool in Wendouree could demand the "NO JEANS" pool rule.
