Despite the lack of fit players & the horror run in July, were actually doing quite well, especially having won the last 4 games on the trot. A damn fine effort given our problems, & how much sides like Adelaide had to gain.
But it's not unusual, we won the last 4 games of the year just.…

…um…

Oh… it must be…

Ok, it was 1979.

Yep, last time we won the last 4 & went into the September action on a roll like this was the year Harmes punched it back from the 23rd row to steal another tight one. Incredibly, we also did it in '78.
Last time we did even better was 1975.

It's lookin quite reasonable. And by this time tomorrow we'll be in the Prelim waiting for suckers!

GO
Pies!!!

(Mods, I just tripped over this stat, if it's already been done, just delete this!)

I love your enthusiasm 35F, but I think you'll find there's no game tomorrow....or any game this weekend for that matter. Cool

^ I think there's a VFLW final at Vic Park this weekend (but we know what you think about W footy).

The 8 track never made it to Australia, did it?

We went from AM radios, to AM/FM radios, to AM/FM Radio cassette players and so on.

I grew up in the bush so had no access to music shops but when I installed my first car stereo in 83, swapping out the old AM radio in the HQ for an AM/FM/Cassette, I don't recall 8 track being an option.

The 8 track cartridge was an option - I remember friends (admittedly not many) who had them. It was a bit like those small videos: it never really caught on. That said, I have a vague recollection that one or two people had 8 track cartridge players in their cars (locally, I mean - not just in movies).

My old man had an 8 track in his Allis Chalmers tractor.

You're the same vintage as me Stui, including having a HQ as a first car [panel van], but 8 track never lasted. My 10 year older bro had an 8 track in his Valiant. Very bulky, pretty sure they called the cassettes of our vintage compact cassettes, possibly why they took over.
