It's like a Collingwood tax created by the fans and media.

To be honest it was a pretty shit trade period for most clubs. West Coast the clear winner, but the rest? Only time will tell if the Hawks made the right choice with Patton, and Geelong with Jack Steven.

Released some cash & gained draft points for discounted Oakleigh mid next year.

Ideally we can hang on to our guns next year, have a 1st round pick & maybe bring in a free agent.

The window is still open, focus on getting the guys fit & we’ll be ok.

Fitness. I don't care about trade period, who we traded and who we didn't get. it's our fitness and injury gurus I'm more interested in. Get our fitness right, our Best 22 on the paddock for the majority of the year, and we'll be contenders again, no doubt,

While I don't doubt we have a salary cap squeeze I question whether it's as doom and gloom as some believe.

Players like Aish are borderline 22, add depth to a list but they are expendable.

Given the role he plays across half back even more so as we have adequate depth already in that area.

Would I be right in assuming that if we have opened up extra cap space next season players already contracted for 2020 can in signing new contracts alter the terms of payment for the 2020 season?

My thinking would be paying a player like Grundy more next year than his current contract stipulates and then that extra amount would be subtracted from the terms of his base wage in any given year or years that was agreed to in his new contract.

So in recent times, that wonderfully run club under the guidance of Scott and Wells have introduced ready made players that include Rivers Macintosh Henderson, Touhey Stanley smith Dangerfield Ablett Dahlhaus Rohan and now Jenkins and Stevens ( with Kelly leaving )
Remind exactly how many flags have that lot won between them at Geelong.
( Ablett aside of course )
Trading doesn’t mean much if you don’t have everything else perfectly in place.
My point being, trading in a player or not in 2019 will have little bearing in what we achieve next season.
( And please don’t come back with the Lynch comparison. Anyone can pick out a recycled player who played in a recent premiership. It’s more about the other 17 clubs who don’t get it right )

The window might be still open but we seem to have major problems going through it. The ONLY way is to have 90 -95% of the senior list available at all times. Thats a big ask I reckon.

So which fitness gurus can we recruit?

Disappointing we couldn't offload Shaz, Reid, Broomhead, Wills, Crocker, Varcoe, and Appleby. All list cloggers that need to be moved on if we're serious about winning a flag. None of these guys are up to it or their best is well and truly behind them. We needed to make some hard calls, but we've shown our weakness again.

Wow Pies. All I got out of that is that we can't spend any money despite Wells, Goldsack etc going off the books. Well, delistings will be interesting.

I cant understand how our list can be expensive.

Outside of a handful of A or B graders, our list is very average.

We are getting bent over by their managers thats for sure.

Yeah a good get , but we got Jordy Roughead for 75 last year that was handy.

Something fishy about the Jenkins story.

Why'd we go cold?

I agree we should have addressed our tall forward issue. Jenkins was a cheap option. Bruce would have also been a cheap trade.

No idea why we didnt seem to make an effort. The only answer is the cap.

Explains why our so called young stars played like millionaires when it mattered most. They've had it too good for too long at this club. Time to get really ruthless!
