There is no way we would want Franklin in 2020, this is the dumbest trade ever proposed |

Undoubtably Daniher has been injury prone, however there's no doubting his talent. As an example he nearly won the game for Essendon on ANZAC day. Get him fit and he'll be a star of the comp.
|
Well, Joe isn't an option for the Pies, which is probably good for both sides. He wants to go somewhere where he's confident in their medical staff. They say that's part of why he wants to leave Essendon. |

Check everybody's salary, it all fits.

Potentially it does from a salary perspective, Franklin's on 1.5 mil himself. While existing contracts may affect a players trade value it's far from the only consideration when determining value. Other aspects include age, injury, trending form and list needs.

Essendon should be happy moving up in the draft, while gaining Sier ( A big need for them, they have no inside mids )
Sier has massive potential, dont-underrate him, not injury riddled like Daniher is and very young.
Sier was a pick 32 and has already been exposed to a GF!
In this case, Sier is much more important to Essendon than Daniher.
|
Undoubtably Daniher has been injury prone, however there's no doubting his talent. As an example he nearly won the game for Essendon on ANZAC day. Get him fit and he'll be a star of the comp.
Franklin turns 33 in January and will be 35 in the last year of his contract. Being tied to his initial restricted free agency contract means that contract is fixed. He averaged 0.5 less goals, 0.5 less behinds (or 1 less shot on goal combined) and 3.5 disposals per game in 2019. My main concern regarding Franklin though is his mobility understandably looks to be diminishing at a time where mobility as a forward is becoming more important. He's also never been that great overhead.
From a Collingwood scenario and under your proposed trade it's meaningless to us who's better. Langdon, Phillips, Sier and 33 is still way too much for Franklin, who I obviously don't rate nearly as highly as you at this twilight stage of his career.
Quote: | 2. You must really rate Phillips, Langdon is no longer needed imo.
Sydney will only let Franklin go because they need to rebuild. Daniher becomes a project for them, while they need to replace some veterans
If they were not rebuilding I would expect them to knock us back to be honest.
|
I'm not a massive fan of Phillips, and he is one I consider tradable for the right deal. Even with questionable skills a 23 year old hard running winger who's had over 550 disposals the previous two seasons will hold value to opposition clubs. A pick in the 20s or 30s is very achievable.
Langdon I would have traded for the right deal at the end of 2018. His superb finals series would have been forefront in the minds of opposition clubs and as you say we have list coverage.

3. Does everybody realise we are getting a Pick 3? chances are Melbourne don't select Noah Anderson leaving him for the pickings. |
Pick 3 will become pick 4. By all reports Anderson won't last past pick 2. |
Are you aware Sydney had the lowest inside 50 count in the comp?? That will play a part in Franklin (slight) drop _________________ The Artist Formerly known as... |

Why didn't Franklin go up the ground and win more footy himself? In years gone by he would have. Just confirms the belief of many including myself that Franklin is ageing. |

Haha, that's the best you got?
Ace'd ya
Fact is his goal-kicking is good as ever and u failed to acknowledge my point, that Sydney's low inside 50's is the reason why the slight drop.
By the way, G.Ablett kicked 34 goals this year. He will be 36 next season _________________ The Artist Formerly known as... |

So we lose the best ruckman, 4 more palyers from our grand final team AND pick 33 for Franklin (on his last legs, Greenwood (just a player), O'Brien and pick 3. That is what you call being royally screwed.

It goes towards explaining Franklin having one less shot on goal per game, but it also doesn't rule out other factors such as age. Nor does explain why Franklin has had 3.5 less disposals per game. |

Ahhh yes
The words of defeat.
Funny how it's ok for people to say 'arghhh too old washed up no good', yet when presented with facts, they just cant politely admit that they may be wrong. Is it a pride thing? Maybe... Would just be nice for someone to say, ohhh your right for once. Instead of coming back with silly statements!!!
You presented a query, i answered. You came back with a very childish respose ' why dont he get his own footy ' ' just goes to confirm my point ' <<<<< Comments like this get me going...
If I have to sort out the moron's One by One until I find out who they reasonable people are here, I WILL!
P.S: I'm not worried about disposals, I WANT GOALS!!!! _________________ The Artist Formerly known as... |

I'm not in a competition, so there's no defeat here.

Ummm, might pay to reread my comments. My "query" stated Franklin was averaging less shots on goal AND less disposals, therefore my "repose" wasn't "very childish" instead it was connected to my previous comment.

I'm not here for this type of personal slagging, so I won't engage with this.

Each to their own, but for mine if we're paying that much I'd want both. |

This is the childish response i was alluding too, I presented you with the reason why his averages are slightly down. You couldn't handle it, Simples _________________ The Artist Formerly known as... |
