Antonio Conte has left Tottenham Hotspur by mutual consent after 16 months in charge.

Conte called the Spurs players "selfish" and criticised the club's culture in a remarkable news conference after their recent draw at Southampton.

Tottenham are fourth in the top flight but are out of all cup competitions.

Conte's assistant Cristian Stellini will step up as head coach for the rest of the season, with former midfielder Ryan Mason his deputy.

Thanks Smile

Liverpool would be wise to stick with Klopp. There's not many better managers out there.

Very pleased to welcome big Ange to Spurs. That was a much better draw against Brentford than many will realise given the number of debutants, the pre-match delay, Romero's concussion subbing, a soft penalty, and more.

Looking forward to seeing him bring an entirely different style and team together, with optimistic signs early. He's certainly handled it well so far, and has the toughness needed for what is a brutal league and media environment.

The test will be dealing with the counter attack and through balls given his midfield stacking and high line, and of course replacing Kane's goals, but he won't need anyone to tell him that.

Knox (not on football):

'Ian Holloway is an English football manager who left eight clubs “by mutual consent” without actually being sacked. Holloway coached Bristol Rovers, Queens Park Rangers, Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City, Blackpool, Crystal Palace, Fulham, QPR again, and Grimsby Town without achieving a winning record at any. Yet he dodged the axe at all but Fulham.

His secret? “You need to know when you’ll get the tap on the shoulder and given the old ‘Hello’.” Hello or Goodbye? The clue, as reader David Williams points out, “is in the way they say ‘Hello’.”

Avoiding the sack is a skill practised by the most artful dodgers.'
