The 18 picked look a very good side

Interchange included Quaynor who may be in contention to replace Langdon

Still no Will Kelly.
Considering he wasn’t mentioned as injured, I’m not sure what his no show means 🤔
The boy needs some serious game time after missing virtually all last season.

Also, does anyone know what’s happening with Scharenberg - he isn’t on the injured list but hasn’t been named in either game?

Well, Walsh told media at the start of the summer that the club would comment only on major injuries, so we can assume that WK & MS do not have coronavirus, but not much beyond that.

^ I guess that's one way to reduce the games lost due to injury stats.

That side a rotating of Adams and De Goey at center ball ups IMO would improve our clearance rate

Biggest weakness is Noble in the side. Replace him with IQ or Murphy and we are much stronger in the back half.

When players can stay injury free and in form then they are in the loop for selection
Currently Quaynor and Murphy are a bit off that criteria—that said they when they are will be a plus

^^ Noble was very good against Richmond last week. Added some run off half back, which is what he was recruited for. Every team has small forwards that he could match up on.
I think Wills as starting rover is a relative weakness and will be replaced by Treloar when he is fit again.
I also think Noble is currently more impactful than either WHE or Thomas who have barely got a touch in games in the past 12 months.

That said, I'd like Murphy to be the one to replace Aish for Rd 1, with Noble holding his place for now.

Yes, Noble played very well. He was close to our best player in the first 3 quarters. If he reproduces that form against first-team AFL opposition, he will keep his place. I'd like to see Murphy and Quaynor work their way into the team but perhaps further up the ground - statistically, it doesn't look to me like there's too much wrong with the defence. Obviously, I'd have TFC straight back in there (one good knee will do), provided he can stand unassisted - but that looks like it won't happen for months, if at all.

I also agree on Wills. He looked to have insufficient talent to be matching it with the Richmond second-midfield last week. He's a great trier and he is hard at it but he fumbles too much in close, his decision-making is poor and his lack of pace consistently becomes a liability when the other team has the ball. If the rest of our midfield were speedsters, that last point wouldn't matter but our two best mids (Pendlebury and Sidebottom) are both as slow as coaches, Adams is no quicker and Phillips is only of average pace. If a guy is going to be useless when the ball is in the opposition's hand on a big ground in a (dry) Final, he's got to have the generational skill of a Pendlebury. Wills simply doesn't. What's more, he didn't have 10 kicks in a single game in 2019 - in the two finals he managed just 6 and 3. He doesn't generate enough to overcome his defects. Sier needs to step up or we'll be playing at least one big mid short again, all 2020.

That's a bit harsh... WHE averaged 14.9 disposals, 6.7 marks, 1 goal and 1.7 tackles in 2019. With the exception of tackles those numbers are all at or above his career averages and a goal a game from a small forward is nothing to sneeze at, especially in the current pandemic environment

Similarly JT's 2019 of D 14.4 M 2.9 G 1.0 T 2.4 is not miles from his best

I like Noble but he's a defender who's played 5 games
