The AFL has issued a directive to state that no AFL Players can participate in 2nd Tier competitions, as a health and safety precaution to limit the group each player is exposed to.

THAT will be a challenge in maintaining reserves if and when the competition starts.

I'd expect that will mean a greater rotation of players in and out of the team each week.

Actually, there is talk of scratch matches being organised for players who aren't in the 1sts, so that they can at least keep fit and get match-conditioning. So there will still be some sort of 2nd tier competition, just not VFL (or NEAFL or SANFL I presume)>

There may well be scratch matches between combined lists, but I doubt it will be any form of organised competition.

So the matches have been scratched but the scratch matches haven’t been scratched?
