The game this year with shorter quarters means a team needs to start well. We've been doing that and hopefully continue to do so.
Hope they put Josh Thomas back in and rest Tyler Brown.

If this happended I'd be all for this, but the wrong Brown. I'd rest Cal or otherwise Phillips and bring in Thomas for his accuracy and defensive capabilities. Tyler will get better with each game and ofers more versatility. Cal will need to devlop into a Caleb Daniels type otherwise his impact will wane.
Our forward craft will improve as we give more time to better users of the ball. Work from the bottom up, back-line through to forwards. I reckon our back six is set. Trialling Daicos and WHE on the wings is a step in the right direction as they'll give better delivery into the Fwd50.
If we can afford the luxury of Sidey on a flank it'll improve again however we'll need Treloar back as the running line breaker before that occurs. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

Mumford is over the hill. Simply a thug. He knows it. If it wasn’t wet in last year’s preliminary final he would have been retired at half time. But it was a slog, which suits his pathetic game to a T. It’s dry in Sydney tonight. He will be destroyed. They’re essentially playing with one less player. _________________ Est. 2002 |

I agree. I just hope he doesn’t injure Grundy. I actually think this an appalling and transparent selection by the Giants - it is a worry, in this day and age, that they would think it’s ok to select a guy with the knowledge that unless he maims his opponent, he is going to lose the ruck 150 to 15. |

Winning the ruck is very different to winning the clearances. |

Let’s not forget Mumford destroyed Grundy last year.
COLLINGWOOD‘s selection of Mason Cox for tonight’s game against the Giants is “a selection mistake” according to Kane Cornes.
“They don’t need him and it threatens to disrupt the electric chemistry the Pies forwards had against St Kilda last week.
“The unpredictable entries had Saints defenders guessing and nervous. With Cox coming back into the front six he will automatically draw the ball and risk the side becoming predictable as they have in he past when the big seven footer has played.” |

Grundy getting 25 disposals and 75 hitouts to 15 is Mumford "destroying" Grundy, is it? Mumford couldn't "destroy" his way out of a paperbag as a footballer.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - if anyone else playing in our midfield had turned up for that match, we would have won by a mile. |

Cornes actually makes a good point regarding predictablity and Cox. I hope that we are aware of it, and don't bomb it in predictably to Cox, but seek to utilise his skills in a varied fashion. I dont think it is a mistake to select Cox, as he has more potency and represents more of a danger to gWS than Cameron does, but we have to be wise about how we utilise him. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!
