The infantile level of Twitter "discourse", aptly summed up by this Tweet:

Quote:
when we say #MenAreTrash, the usual suspects will get offended and say #NotAllMen

All of this is just slogans people yell at each other on the internet. It has no bearing on real life or any of the actual issues regarding rape or domestic violence. But to people brain-poisoned by Twitter, this seems to be all their minds revolve around: waging battle against those who respond to "#menaretrash" with "#notallmen".

Toxic men killing their children and/or former partners because a relationship has ended.

Not sure what if anything can be done to stop it but it's becoming an all to familiar story now.

There are a few things, and some of them are definitely cultural, but I think we also need to be looking at things like mental-health funding, prevention services, issues around poverty and financial stress and so on. In any case, I don't really think social media arguments around hashtags are helping deal with any of this; it's just a way of in-group and out-group signalling.

That may be of some assistance but when it comes down to it, there have always been crazy bastards running around and there always will be.

Petrol prices, **** me, they'd come down after their school holiday increase but most places have shot back up to new ridiculous prices atm.

I don't get how you can have a 40c difference between places just a km apart and sometimes they are the same damn company!

Glad I've found a site that reports up to date prices, saves a LOT of money

. We certainly need more mental health funding

We also need to start in school teaching about self respect respect for others, programs that encourage and support helping each other out, rewarding kindness instead of grades

We lived for a time in a caravan so yes I really am trailer trash, my father was educated but useless with money and wouldn’t let my mum work. I will not allow the use of mental health to excuse his behaviour or any other of the above reasons, he’s just a spoilt shithead human, the day I saw him king hit my mother, I don’t know how she survived, actually she didn’t, you have to wonder about that massive brain tumour. He was just born evil.

Not ever thing can be rationalised away

Too many of these men and women leave a trail a mile wide that somehow gets lost or ignored, someone always says they saw it coming

Yes we do need better mental health services and also welfare services, there should not be a single homeless person in this country, but we also need to make damn sure aggressive behaviour is stopped in its tracks, the first time, not the 2nd or third or tenth. Right $£$%^%%$ now.

my sister was on at the melb swans game, she said they threw out a ridiculous amount of people for carrying on, after the game one douche was really carrying on and a bunch of melb supporters were making it worse by getting in the way and filming it. she got an urgent call to the other side of the ground, lost it and said to the troops get him in the van any way you can and sprinted. ambulance and firies got there quick, but too late, so she had to comfort a child & his grandpa while dad died of a heart attack. mum sprinted form a nearby hospital, they did all they could but it was too late.

with all the shit we went through last year, why has so little changed? ^&*^*%

That's very sad to hear, Jo. I have a lot of respect for first responders (ambulance, police or the general public) who have to deal with situations like that in the moment – must be heartbreaking.

Email this morning, 7:52am from Quantas. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation they've had to make some changes to my flights to Darwin in August. Mad Evil or Very Mad

I need to spend time checking what they've done and what else is available, I'm not getting a midnight flight home.

If it was just me, I'd sit in a bar at the airport and get carried on to the plane but I'm taking mum with me.

I'll have to re-work the flights and maybe add a day or 2 to the holiday which will involve another hotel FML.

I could have shot through to Toc this morning but no need. It's fkn freezing up there and I can do 7 days, it's just 1 weekend

Yeah I chose to stay in Melbourne too, we don’t have ducted heat and a sauna at the holiday house! I’m better prepared mentally this time, I have plans! And they don’t include much house work this time! Stuff the spring cleaning!

Yeah,

I'm replacing the blinds in the lounge room, taking down the roman blinds and swapping them out for roller blinds. Got them Wednesday, sitting on the couch for something to do over the weekend.
