Here’s a report on an Australian follow-up study, suggesting that 4 out of 5 people who were admitted to one Sydney hospital still have ongoing symptoms months after being released. It’s a small sample (94 patients) but it’s a further indication that not dying from COVID-19 is not the same as getting over it.

Unconfirmed reports on the radio news that Victoria will report over 400 new cases today. The Premier will apparently do His press conference at 11.30 today.

Just saw this today:

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/locked-down-victorians-face-fines-for-exercising-too-far-from-home-20200717-p55cwt.html

Quote:
People could be fined $1652 for exercising outside their local area under Victoria’s strict COVID-19 lockdown rules in light of new guidelines issued by the state government.

The Andrews government has clarified advice on where Victorians in lockdown can go for essential exercise, saying they should only use the closest option available or risk a hefty fine.

It means if you live in Spotswood, you cannot go for a walk around the Botanic Gardens in South Yarra. Cyclists and joggers must stick to their closest trails and tracks and travel the minimum distance and time to complete their exercise.

Had a plan to go for a walk with a friend who lives on the north side today, but looks like that’s off the table!

^ Yes.

And three new deaths.

114, 115 and 116: A man in his 70s, a man is his 80s and a woman in her 80s have died in Victoria.

Don’t rely on me - but the news reports suggest that this seems to be about people driving across town to “exercise”. Let us know if you find out anything different.

Wow....well there you go. At what point to the families of the deceased charge the Victorian Government for negligence in recruiting bouncers to provide bio-security at hotels.

Dan Andrews should be sacked for this.

It's like during the 1st period of Stage 3 restrictions when people were driving to the beach, peninsula etc. under the guise of exercise.
People are using this excuse again.

The breakdown of the 428 new cases in Victoria ( net increase of 415) is:
• 1 person in hotel quarantine
• 57 cases linked to known outbreaks
• 370 cases under investigation
• 13 cases reclassified (so a net reduction from the 428).

Another new daily high in the US - 73,388 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Again, for comparison with Victoria, Indiana has now recorded a total of 54,080 cases (710 new cases in the last 24 hours) and 2,795 deaths (10 deaths in the last 24 hours). It is probably worth mention8ng that Indiana has, to date, done well 7nder half the tests that have been done in Victoria, so it’s quite likely it’s n7mbers are an under-enumeration.

122 Victorians are in hospital, and 31 of those are in intensive care.

Definitely a big mistake but considering the circumstances, I don't think he should be sacked. Apart from that mess, and not fining/jailing those who refuse a test, he has handled the situation extremely well.
