Lego is pretty tough. Have you stepped barefoot on one of those f***ers? |

^ Unfortunately, Scharenberg is built from 25,000 pieces of lego with bits falling off every other game.
If he falls, he shatters into multiple smaller lego pieces. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

Daicos deserved to be selected but he should have replaced C Brown. Scharanberg should have been replaced by a tall defender, Dunn if he is match fit (which I doubt) or Madgen. _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

The 'Pies back six:
[25] Jack Crisp, [23] Jordan Roughead, [3] Isaac Quaynor
[37] Brayden Maynard, [30] Darcy Moore, [16] Chris Mayne
Geelongs front six:
[4] Gary Ablett, [17] Esava Ratugolea, [23] Gary Rohan
[32] Gryan Miers, [26] Tom Hawkins, [40] Luke Dahlhaus
Do we need Scharenberg or another taller defender (Dunn, Madgen, Reid)? Or do we have the right amount of height? (Heavy rain is expected).
Essentially, IQ is playing in place of Howe. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Madgen and Nobel are among the emergencies. Scharenberg has been left out because of a rib injury, apparently. |

I have just researched the heights of Geelong's forwards, and I understand the reasoning behind the non-replacement of Schazz with a tall defender. Geelong's only height in the forward line lies with Hawkins and Ratugolea.
Both Moore and Roughie are taller than both of these, and likewise our defenders will all be taller than their geelong opponents. Even IQ (180 cm) is taller than his probable opponents: Miers is 178 cm and Dalhaus is 179 cm. We have selected with the weather in mind, and prioritised pace. After Hawkins and Ratu, their next tallest forward is Rohan (189 cm) and both Maynard (189) and Crisp (190) match him. The only concern is that Rohan is very good aerially, but I certainly think Maynard can deal with him just fine.
i am happy to have Cox in the forward line. He doesn't have to mark: he is there to threaten to mark, to deflect the ball to ground level, and to distract more than one Geelong defender. With Cox in our Forward line, Geelong can't for example switch Biclavs into the forward line to try to exploit our smaller defence. At first I was shocked by this selection decision. But now I am kind of warming to it. We are planning to play fast and to continue and expand on our theme of unpredictablity by rotating Billie, JDG through F50 and the centre, and JS moving around the field as well, along with Josh Daicos. I think we are trying to move away from the perspective of a gruelling slugfest in the wet where both teams score under 60 points, but we inevitably lose narrowly. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

Not if he can take Blicavs away from the ball. Given that an out of form tall has been picked to play in the slop, he won’t be expected to mark to much on the night.
Cox hasn’t been marking it anyway, so he won’t be any worse in the wet.
If he can take Blicavs out of his comfort zone, then that goes a fair way to taking the second best tall defender in the comp ( statistically ) away from the action. |
