It all starts with Grundy, it always does against the Cats.
They do not have a ruckman and Grundy exploits it every time.
The Cats are still good team but they continue to get exposed against good ruckman and wide wings.

Treloar was excellent. He is certainly marked very hard by most on here.
On wet nights, metres gained is everything.
He got it 30 plus times and played his roll perfectly.
As P4SHAW pointed out, Phillips metres gained went greatly unnoticed also.
He was another one who had a good game and hopefully regained some confIdence along the way.
Good signs against good opposition.

Despite WHE's crap banana which ruined a fantastic mark and Adams reverting to fatal turnover mode ala 2016-2017 in the last quarter, we won thanks to JDG, Grundy, Crisp and Dependlebury. Got nervous when they got within 10 with 2 minutes to go. Good reposte from Grundy, Crisp and JDG. Roughy did some uncharacteristic dumb stuff. Glad Cox didn't play but Noble, Brown Atu and Wills were all sub par, but at least we won in the wet, beat the filthy handbaggers and got no injuries.

but players below par increased their workload

Fantastic win. Great team performance!
My votes went to Treloar, De Goey, Pendlebury, Grundy, Crisp, although Adams and Maynard could have been in there.
I was impressed by Noble. His call up was more than justified.
Highlight was the Grundy/Crisp/De Goey clearance. Bang!

Most of Geelong's goals came from our mistakes, which can happen when you take the game on. Turnover goals hurt, but this gamestyle is what has helped us win the last two weeks. We don't want to revert to slow predictable down the line football.

Speaking of the last two weeks - wins over Hawthorn and Geelong. Doesn't get much better. Lets do the trifecta next week and beat the Eagles.

Make no mistake, we are the best team in the competition.
We kick most of our goals via our work rate whilst our simple errors (dropping simple marks, not punching the ball for a behind etc) contribute to the majority of the oppositions goals.
If we tidied up our elementary errors, most opposition teams would struggle to kick more than 4 goals against us.

We are the benchmark and the only things that will stop us are also things that are within our control.
Self doubt in how good we are/can be and cleaning up those little errors mainly across half back.

Work rate and metres gained. Not exactly the new black (& white) but its what our game is based on.
It was an ugly win again but an important one against a respected opponent. I can imagine losing a game like that would have brought a lot of scorn but you don't beat Geelong unless it's on your terms and we ground it out, got the 4 points, we move on.

Okay, Phillips is my whipping boy but he gained valuable meters last night, perhaps his best game for the year.
A2B2 struggled, maybe just the conditions but he'll be struggling to hold his spot. On a dry Optus deck I'd still be tempted to play him.
Varcoe, c'mon, lets call time on this. With Sidey on the cusp of a return and the likes of Tyler Brown, Shaz, Bianco, Sier etc, that's whom we should be getting games into.

The forward line is still a work in progress. I'm sure Cox will be given another chance next week.
