these 3 decades times:

1991-1999: The last of the hardcore Collingwood eras. Old school was tough and no frills. Kind of my style. Not quite capitalised on the famous 1990 year but showed a bit and had the ticker back then. Working class culture of the club too. 1991 Millanes death derailed us for the rest of the 1990's. Only a year on from the famed 1990 win too. 1995 i feel was our best list between 1991-1999 we had a bit of the old 1990 and the new too. 1996 were good too. Shaw didnt give a crap in 1997-1998 i think he knew the writting was on the wall. Hats off to Shaw though for making way i guess. Not like buckley is these days.

1999-2010: Kind of Collingwood please meet the modern era. In: Ed Out:McAlister In:Malthouse Out: Tony Shaw. In: Corp sponsership Out: Working class. Sleek new looks. Alot promised too. Alot of sales and marketing. In: Plastic Out: Wood. Ill take it but I call it progress.2010 justice for Mick and players on winning the flag makes up for 2002 and 2003. Even in 2004-2009 we were competitive too. I was happy for Mick.

2011-2020: Baring 2018 been Collingwood worst ever. All started with the Malthouse/Buckley saga which still haunts us to the day. Micks done well he is happy retired not so Buckley. Eddie isnt owing up to it either but he knows. Its been to most unproductive time too. Have the players looks good on paper not so performance on field. Had to rely on recycled players more so youth. Bad management and short sighted too. No real passion too. The ed and bucks club.

2021-2030: ?

Nah....of those 3 decades, 1991-99 were the worst - I don't think we won a final, and only in 1992 did we have a great season, bowing out in an elimination final despite finishing 3rd. The only highlight of that decade was the rise and rise of Buckley.

God, I'm getting flashbacks to Jack Spain and the "Lexus Centre Cult", when that was a thing. Laughing

1996-1999 fair enough changes were made

2013-2020 - no change and probably

2021-2025 - no change either

look to be honest our next 4 years will be a constant re build more particualr 2021-2023 it mirrors that of the 1996-1999 years

lucky to win a flag at this rate till say 2029

miss finals 2020-2022 is my tip

Darren Millane’s death gutted us for the entire ‘90’s we never really recovered from that. I still believe we would have won more flags if he were still around.

Not getting Lockett was also a major mistake

To put it simply both 2011 and as it seams 2018 gf losses both set us back a decade. 2018 was turning point win it and be set up for the next 10 years instead lose it and in 2 years time we are back in the pack and potetenally re building. Its amazing what an extra goal would have done.

Post subject: thoughts going into this year 2020Reply with quote

for me it was another top 4 and make it to another prelim. Now its make finals and win week 1 is a pass for me. I feel 2021 we will be in need of a mini rebuild and feel more like 2022 is better placed. Still think we need another year and if we get our list right and make the needed changes then we will be well placed 2022. 2021 will be more of the same as bucks will still be coach but if we can lay the foundations in 2021 then all is good.
I feel bucks end of 2021 then we will looking for a new coach and coaching panel also.
We need more players a get the ball and kick ball types and a effective youth policy will be handy too.
Me thinks after the season we will be cleaning out the list some what. Either retire, moved on, traded or delisted.

1992 team were brilliant, we were as unlucky a team as I can remember, win that game against the Saints and the flag was ours for the taking, had comprehensively beaten all other comers
