Good on him, but if that were the case it would be a very slow build up getting it into the forward line with all the 20m sideways and backwards kicks. Then finish with a set shot 30m out that wouldn’t make the distance.

Never has such a limited footballer got so much out of himself with courage and perseverance

Apparently Murphy incurred a similar injury (smashed/broken eye socket) from a scratch match last week, so he is unlikely to get a game for us this year.

VFL / AFL has had a few of these where someone without the "preferred" physical attributes has excelled due to hard work and effort. Tony Liberatore and even Paul Licuria are great examples and they shame people like Jessie White and Harley Bennell.

^ And how do you know that Jesse White didn't work hard enough? The only people who would know if that was the case would be the people on the inside at the club at the time.
There are all kinds of reasons why talented players fail to live up to "supporters" expectations. Lack of effort is only one.

White played 130 games of AFL football and as far as I (and you) know, has no reason not to feel anything but pride in his achievements.

White simply couldn't read the play. He was a classic example of an athlete playing the game. He always threatened to do way more than he did because he was so big and strong and fast - but if you're big and strong and use your pace to run to all of the wrong places, you aren't much use. In a way, White was a victim of his own athleticism - if he didn't look like a player who might, at any moment, become a gun, he would never have played so many games.

I don't think it's fair to criticize his work and effort, though - and it is very, very unfair to put him in the same basket as Bennell (Bennell seems to have been blessed with talent and cursed with other issues). A few people can really, really play the game, many others can't - no matter how hard they try. White was just one who couldn't.

With DeGoey ,Treloar ready and Sidey only out for family reasons Chris is an outside chance based on how deep we progress

Now all four would be very good if we go deep

lol i think your selling him a bit short here.

He was at one stage the most accurate kick for goal in the league at Freo.

Well he certainly doesn’t kick like he did at Freo and like a few others hasn’t got anywhere near the form of 2018. But unlike Phillips, Thomas and WHE his career is a lot closer to the end and the club must start looking beyond him, Varcoe and Reid.
