Darren Jolly has left a very strange instagram message in the last 2 hours. (About 6:30pm).

It is a very concerning post and a seemingly big call out for help.

I'm not sure if the mods will remove this thread or start another, but this is something that will be in the news.

I hope he is ok.

Distressing to read this. Hope Darren has support around him.

Hope the club can also reach out to him.

Iā€™m not in anyway defending or supporting her because I donā€™t know the facts or all sides of the story. However the priority now is not the marriage/separation issues (which can be dealt with later) but his current mental state and the pain he is expressing. My experience as a social worker leads me to see a huge red flag. I have dealt with many similar situations that havenā€™t ended well. Worried and concerned for him.

Woah that news hit me like ton of bricks. Wish something quick can be done for Darren. His friends and family rallying around him will make a big difference. I hope and pray for the best.

Such a sad situation, for everyone involved. No one can judge, Ive been through divorce but thankfully Im close to my daughters even though they live with their mother. Its really tough for Dads who miss out on seeing their little princesses, they are their Dads world. Hope Darren is getting help for his mental health issues and gets through this. Empathy a plenty.

Feel like Iā€™ve seen this situation play out all too often. The family court is a disaster. Hope Darren gets the support he needs and gets to reconnect with his kids soon. Unless there is actual violence or abuse, no parent should be separated from their children like this.

Hate to share a Daily Mail link, but thereā€™s a fair bit of backstory to whatā€™s been happening here (I hadnā€™t heard any of this):

With out all the facts you canā€™t appoint blame. All I know is Darren find a way, no matter your relationship with your kids now, tomorrow is worth fighting for. Donā€™t do this to you or them. So $£$%^%%$ sad.

It is a comment on the Daily Mail's irrelevance to Australian life that it identifies Darren Jolly as a former Block contestant rather than a champion footballer who was part of two Premiership winning teams.

I wish him a speedy recovery and access to his daughters.

Inevitably, when the children mature and become more independent, they seek out the estranged parent.
Sadly, by then, irreversible damage has been done to all parties, most unjustly to the children themselves.
Such a tragic situation. Hopefully, after this cry for help, at least Darren will feel more supported.

It's a terrible situation where children are used to hurt the other parent.

Now that Darren's safety has been assured, we'll lock this thread before it turns a discussion of something much more broadly-based than just the concerns of the Pies and players past and present.

As a reminder, the Vic Park Tavern is always open.
