Gary Ablett Jr. and Harry Taylor are gone.

By the end of March next year:
Joel Selwood, 32
Tom Hawkins, 32
Josh Jenkins, 32
Zach Tuohy, 31
Jack Steven, 31
Lachie Henderson, 31
Rhys Stanley, 30
Mark Blicavs, 30
Patrick Dangerfield, 30
Mitch Duncan, 29
Gary Rohan, 29
Sam Menegola, 29
Cameron Guthrie, 28
Luke Dahlhaus, 28
Tom Stewart, 28

Promising young players, 23 and under:
Jordan Clark, 19 (Linked to other clubs)
Lachie Fogarty, 21 (Linked to other clubs)
Charlie Constable, 21 (Linked to Essendon)
Gryan Miers, 21
Brandan Parfitt, 22
Esava Ratugolea, 22 (Linked to other clubs)
Sam Simpson, 22
Jack Henry, 22
Zach Guthrie, 22
James Parsons, 23
Nakia Cockatoo, 23 (Linked to other clubs)
Quinton Narkle, 23 (Linked to other clubs)

Mid Aged Players:
Darcy Fort, 27
Jed Bews, 26
Jake Kolodjashnij, 25
Mark O'Connor, 24

Players coming in:
Shaun Higgins, 33 in March.

They've now missed out on Brad Crouch. And if they let go of young players like Constable, Narkle, Cockatoo, Fogarty, Clark and Ratugolea and bring in a 33 year old Higgins, I smell trouble.

With the return of 22 rounds and possibly the return of normal length quarters next year, along with recovering from a GF loss, how can Geelong keep up their form? They wont.

Jeremy Cameron, are you sure you want to play for Geelong? They might have missed their chance and if they dont win it in 2021, it's over.

It’s a good overview of their list profile.
The sweet spot for a players career is 23 - 29.
From a list of 40 odd and with their window wide open, it’s a bit unbalanced and under staffed for players at the peak of their powers.
They rely on their best players to pull them across the line and their best players are clearly their oldest ones.
This is why we should all support the Giants playing very hard ball with the Cats on Cameron. The more they can retrieve back from the Cats, the less the Cats have to build a stronger list.
They currently have three late first rounders. That’s quite a haul. We need the Giants to match the contract offer and ask for the world in return.
They have been good for a while but the fact remains, they get caught short against the very best.

Since starting his career with 3 finals wins in a row, Scott has now won just 6 of the last 19 Geelong has played in.

Having said all that and named each player and their age, it might only be fair to do the same with our list, and add the 6 recently delisted/retired players and their ages?

It might not read as pretty as you think...

Age at round 1, 2021;

Isaac Smith (32).

Geelong are going for the all or nothing approach. Will it work? We'll have to see. But if they miss out next season, it could be over for that group.

Higgins (32) and Cameron (27) will be next to join.

Shouldn’t we do something similar to present Pendles with a flag before he retires and then have a rebuild?

Geelong have the oldest list in the League, and this years GF was their last hurrah, their last shot in the chamber. Higgins at his age is a joke, really, and Cameron is coming in at the wrong time, missed the boat now.

GWS matched to Cats offer and killed the RFA play.

Cats need to now trade for him. Media speculation today that the Cats considering walking away. Could be just noise or bluff.

Pies still have an opportunity (a small one) to strike a deal with an old trading partner in GWS.

Maybe the Treloar move is to open up this opportunity. How about GCS Pick 5 for Treloar........ pick 5, pick 37ish and Phillips for Cameron ? OR Sweeten by giving 16 instead of pick 37ish.

Cameron still has to agree to it. He nominated Geelong so one assumes he'll be holding out for that result

Still not sure we want him but if we do, future first round pick (that would likely need to be used on Daicos Jr. anyway) would be on the the table

^Out: Treloar would release $600k-$650k, even if we pay $200k of his salary. And Phillips is on about $600k.

In: Assuming Cameron would be $900k, and we draft a kid or a older rookie at $100-$150k to make up for the second player on the list, that should roughly cover it.

The biggest hurdle is having the Cats walk away and Cameron wanting to come to us as a 2nd choice.
