Post subject: EPL Loan systemReply with quote

Currently with English soccer, clubs can loan players to other clubs. There are many reasons why they do this, it could be for development of a player in a lower league, or for an unhappy player who is still on contract, for homesick youngster etc.
Basically the club who holds the contract with the player, lets call them the 'sending club', sends a player to another club, lets call them the 'receiving club'.
The receiving club has access to the player for an agreed term.
The receiving club pays the player's contracted salary.
The receiving club does not have to pay the sending club anything, they are providing the player opportunity to play games.
The sending clubs get salary cap relief while still retaining the players on contract.
The sending club get games into developing players without compromising their own team, or provides an environment for unhappy players to still play, get paid, without the loss of a contract and the costs involved with that.
The players get paid, play games and hopefully in a happier environment if that was the reason for the loan.
The player is not allowed to play against the sending club.
Currently Liverpool has 16 players out on loan to other clubs.

I know the AFL does not have a loan system, and team lists numbers would also prevent this system.
But could the Suns and Collingwood come to a trade agreement.

For me the thing that is being forgotten here is Treloar's family.
They are heading north for 10 months.
Adam is going to miss his family terribly through the year.
And this could quite possibly affect his game and mental health.

Could Collingwood do a trade with the Suns.
Adam, go north with our blessing, be with your family, and play good footy at the Suns.
They are going to pick up your salary for the year.
But after 12 months you are obligated to be traded back and complete your contract with Collingwood.

The Suns get a quality player for 12 months, especially when so many of their gun midfielders are still young and developing, having Adam there can certainly help them.
Yes it costs the Suns $900K for the year, but they only have to give up a token pick for the trade.
Collingwood gets salary cap relief, if only for a year, but this could allow then to front end some other contracts to assist with TPP payments in the future, which in turn could help with contract signings yet to be finalised.
Collingwood is providing a happy work environment for Adam, allowing him to be with his young family, but the club also gets Adam back when his family return, so we retain a quality player for the future, once again sending a token pick to the Suns for the trade.
Adam gets to be with his young family, play footy, and on his return once again become a Collingwood player.

Not exactly loaning as such but I remember one year when John Rantall started the season with North Melbourne and at the mid season draft he was picked up by South Melbourne and played the very next game for them😂😜

Given our injury management, I don’t think anyone would be loaning to us! We’re the kids who returned library books ripped and torn and covered in food.
