As we know, after Presti retired in the weeks after missing out on the 2010 GF, the number 35 has been given to the first player drafted* onto the list every season since. *Elliott traded for as a pre-drafted GWS player.
Player drafted and games played in the number 35:
Alex Fasolo (13 games including the GF)
Jamie Elliott (15 games including the PF)
Brodie Grundy (7 games including the EF)
Matthew Scharenberg (0 games)
Jordan De Goey (16 games)
Brayden Sier (0 games)
Sam McLarty (0 games)
Jaidyn Stephenson (26 games including the GF)
Isaac Quaynor (4 games)
Jay Rantall (0 games)
This year, it could be Reef McInnes depending on upcoming trades. We may find ourselves with an earlier pick once trade period is over.
But next year, if things go the way they are expected, Nick Daicos will be the first player drafted onto the list.
So the question is. Once Nick Daicos is on the list and in the #35, do we stop the rotation of the number? They'll be many supporters out there that'd be very excited to see Nick in that number for his entire career. But there may be some who want to keep the ten year tradition going.
The decision might come down to the club and Presti himself, who I'm sure would be happy to let Nick continue to wear the number. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned!

Presti35, you missed one, Sam McLarty. Like Matt Scharenberg and Brayden Sier, Sam played 0 games in #35 but unlike Schazza and Sier, Sam also did not play any games in the number (#23) that he was allotted at the end of his first season.
As to your actual question about Nick Daicos, I wonder if the Daicos family and Josh in particular would feel a bit conflicted about Nick being awarded #35 when Josh wasn't. _________________ Born and raised in Black and White |

Horrible idea. The fact that we rarely see it at senior level, let alone finals and Grand Finals is a travesty. _________________ Est. 2002 |

They can wear 92 (as in EST. 1892).
The high number suits the reserves comp. that they’ll spend most of their time in. _________________ Est. 2002

Never been a fan of #35 always been given to the highest drafted player each year.
If he wants it, I think it would be fitting for Nick Daicos to take on the number and keep it for the entirety of his career. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Beams withdrew from the 2011 Grand Final, we didn't retire his number.
I loved Presti but if Nick Daicos wants it, let him keep it. If not, let it go. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Instead of 35, can we bring 42 out of retirement and use that? BTW I think this a great concept, making new traditions as we go. Can’t only depend on the existing ones all the time. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. I agree bring 42 out of retirement - retiring jumpers is a noble thought, but honestly by doing that you take it out of the game and forget its history, it just sits out of the way in some disused locker...
And 35... stop handing it around willy nilly - let another collingwood legend build their own legacy with the number _________________ All Aboard!! Choo Choo!!! |

Won't happen while McGuire is there; he and Millane were joined at the hip in the latter years... _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

So we have seen it worn 81 times in what about 230 games. Not nearly enough. Let’s hope they stop this “tradition” and give it to someone permanently and perhaps we will see it week in and week out for the next 10 years. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |
