Just think how disappointing it would have been for Sier to have the 42 jumper, only to be delisted. Millanes passion and dedication to the team and his teammates cannot be duplicated, but you'd hate to see someone with such a lack of commitment wearing that number.
I guess I dont mind the idea of the best clubman/DM award winner to get the jumper for a season, but that too opens up some issues. Would the player want to wear the number or change numbers?, etc...
One thing I'd LOVE the club to do is have some kind of tribute jumper worn at least once. We could have done it this year being 30 years. Just a simple patch on the jumper. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

That's a given Baz; what we are touting for, is for Nick to keep it, instead of it being moved onto the first player drafted in 2022, which has been the annual tradition since Presti retired. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Two great Collingwood men Daic,s and Presti
What I wonder would be the appropriate number to replace 35 then _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

I though Syd Coventry number as Collingwood captain in 1927 -1930 four flags
He wore 6 but at that period in our history jumper numbers changed regularly on an alphabetic order as new players arrived
Syd had 6 ,7 and a few others _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Won't be popular, but... #1; keep turning it over instead. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Think some other club/clubs use the Number 1 for their first draftee
And a year to start as Rantall (1) has been delisted
But that may not work with Nick getting 35 _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

The concept of giving #35 to our first drafted player was always a silly idea. Ok, so Simon Prestigiacomo showed team spirit by ruling himself out of the 2010 GF replay. If he wasn't truly fit, that's what he was required to do anyway. Are unfit players supposed to lie and expose the team to being a player down during the GF?
Presti was a good player but he wasn't in Daics's league. Few players are. When I saw a Collingwood jumper with #35 on the back I always thought of Peter Daicos, not of Simon Presigiacomo.
Nick Daicos should get #35, and keep it. |

Agree, #35 will always equal Daicos. Presti was a good player but at the end of the day he only borrowed the number. _________________ Magpie Jumper Gallery:

Time to give away the Presti thing. 11 years is enough. Also would give Maynard number 42. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |
