We have too many players to get to complete our list. We can’t afford to bundle up picks.

We is what we is.

Pick 14 + 16 is worth a total of 2228 points
Pick 2 is worth 2517.

If say for instance god help us we finish 15th that's worth 2034 points.

So 2228+2034-2517 we have surplus of essentially pick 6 - 1745 points.

No thanks, but the thinking is right...

I get that but the Suns are opening to trading pick 5 so the points equation from 14&16 is about fair I reckon and maybe we owe them a favour down the line
Then pick 5 with future 2nd rounder from Dogs for Treloar gets us to pick #2 this year and we maintain our 1st & 2nd round picks in 2021
My logic is we have to get something from this debacle
My concern is every club now knows we are desperate and might like to kick us while we are down

Wont happen, the future second rounder is needed for N.Diacos. 14, 16 and next years first is all Collingwood will offer up.

That’s not quite true because we can always trade our future 2022 picks into the Daicos 2021 draft.
There are so many ways to skin a cat regarding securing Daicos, it will be no big deal come the 2021 draft.

Looking at that latest phantom draft (fox footy) only strengthens my hope we use our future 1st to gain another top 20 pick this year.

If we haven't already moved up and secured a tall in Cox or Reid then I'd be tempted to take the punt and go early with Callow.

Coming away from another draft without a genuine kpp prospect would be pretty disheartening IMO.

With 10 Picks you think we take at least 1 KPF

Not counting father son picks, the last actual young KPPs we drafted (from memory) with anything remotely an early pick were Reid, Brown and Dawes.

I still reckon the U18 anti density rules have hampered the development of a number of young promising tall forwards. By the time they go from U18s to seniors, it’s an entirely new ball game. It’s a much harder game in the seniors and a lot of them simply can’t handle the step up.
Recruiters know this and most clubs are now reluctant to speculate on tall forwards unless they are serious standouts at an U18 level.

If there are only about 40 picks taken in this draft then all of a sudden our picks in the 60s become picks in the forties.... could be a genius move.

From what Dekka was saying he and his scouts have done alot of ground work on the Vic boys and I have a funny feeling we may get some "Hine specials" from this bunch.
Im a little more optimistic than a couple of weeks ago.

So is Walshy the one who wears the brunt of the salary cap fiasco, which we are hardly none the wiser bc nothing official has come out of it. ??

Ok, just watched Hine interview and I think early in the draft a few pies supporters might be pissed.

A few things said and unsaid stood out.

As we know, first time in a long time clubs only have to use one pick. With players traded in and list reductions many clubs will only use two picks. Some may use just one. This brings our string of picks in the 60s way forward.

There will NOT be any elite first round talls at our picks. We will take best available which will be elite mid/forward types - this may or may not include Reef.

After the first round, Hine said for the first time we may not use the best available but take a player suiting our needs. That’s talls and gives away that we won’t get one early. He also indicates we can’t and won’t be able to trade up. He does indicate we may trade into second round.

There are a few promising 2nd and 3rd round talls. I think Hine believes they will be available to us earlier this year as teams opt out much sooner.

There are some good talls potentially in the 2nd and third round. With Clubs not using all of their picks I could see some get to us. Also, Hine hinted at potentially trading into the 2nd round.

I think we are taking this option because as much as we want to, we are unable to trade up higher in the first. The way its playing out, all clubs with picks before us have players lined up.

Some talls that look ok for 2nd round are Liam Kolar and I would bid on Josh Eyre - make Essendon match.
Jackson Callo looks really good and a late late pick could be used on Ollie Lord.
