There are some good talls potentially in the 2nd and third round. With Clubs not using all of their picks I could see some get to us. Also, Hine hinted at potentially trading into the 2nd round.

I think we are taking this option because as much as we want to, we are unable to trade up higher in the first. The way its playing out, all clubs with picks before us have players lined up.

Some talls that look ok for 2nd round are Liam Kolar and I would bid on Josh Eyre - make Essendon match.
Jackson Callo looks really good and a late late pick could be used on Ollie Lord.

IF we have to burn one of our first two picks on matching the McInnes bid, then expect Collingwood to bundle up all their picks in the sixties ( including the surplus pick left over from the McInnes bid ) and do a swap with a club requiring points to match their N G A / F S bids. Late picks that still hold a points value will be gold on the night.

It’s an easy way to climb the up the draft order. We could potentially end up with a pick in the forties and then use our fifth, sixth, seventh round selections to round out our night with picks in the late fifties / early sixties.

Re drafting talls - we all want to see a 10 year KPF rip it up for the club for the next 10 years but they are hard to find, particularly after the first round.
If the club don’t go that route, it’s only because they don’t think there’s anyone there who will make it. Obviously they don’t always make the right call but history shows MOST K P F s picked later in the draft fall by the wayside.
At #40 in the draft, there’s more chance of finding a 150 game mid than a 20 game K P F who dominates the VFL but can’t take the next step up.

^ agree with all of that.
The only exception this year is the Vic kids and lack of Games / opportunity to develop. Lord, Kolar, Eyre and to a degree Callow could very well have had a year like McDonald had they been able to play.

We better trade up and get Cox now we haven’t traded up.
