In Victoria, no new cases, 5 active cases (so 4 and yesterday's international air-crew positive) and no-one in hospital with COVID.

As was reported on and yet denied by Danny boy, the last lockdown was because Victoria's world class contact tracing systems had failed yet again.

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/cracks-emerged-in-digital-contact-tracing-system-days-before-five-day-lockdown-20210306-p578dl.html

I remember their social media team going into overdrive after it posting their 7 day average which conveniently started after this little doozy...

The administrative blunder saw tracers quickly slip way below their targets on February 9. About 44 per cent of close contacts linked to the Grand Hyatt and Holiday Inn clusters not were contacted within the national standard 48 hours.

In Victoria, 10 days in a row of no new cases, 5 active cases (so 4 and an international air-crew member who tested positive recently) and no-one in hospital with COVID.

10 days since the last locally acquired case in Victoria. Huzzah.

The second most recent community case was in WA 35 days ago.

NSW has gone 50 days without a community case while bringing 3000 international travelers per week into Hotel Quarantine. Victoria, in case you missed it, is the only state not accepting any.

Wonder if they're using the downtime to find another new contact tracing system? I'm sure there's another few million they can waste on something that doesn't work. Or maybe it's not the system but the idiots using it?

I do love how they trumpeted it as being able to cope with up to 500 daily cases and it failed with less than 5!!!

In Victoria, 11 days in a row of no new community cases, 6 active cases (so 4 and 2 international arrivals who tested positive recently, one of them yesterday) and no-one in hospital with COVID.

Where are these international arrivals coming from? Victoria stopped accepting international flights 4 weeks ago.

Not much to laugh about, seems like a pretty nasty injury:

I heard the incident was precipitated by a comment that Dan put on his pants 1 leg at a time the same as everyone else followed by a "Yeah? Well watch this"

eddiesmith did a merry jig with the news

re contract tracers in Vic, they are are all useless not just Vic.
when I was considered being a 'close contact' ie Terminal 4 at Melb airport, I had all sorts of idiots calling me from various NT & QLD departments. It is clear none of them have a central database or communicate with each other. I must have explained myself 15 times from scratch again and again.

Central database? it was only late last year that Victoria graduated to actually having a database instead of relying on pen and paper.

Every state has their own different systems and processes and almost all of them seem to work well.

Wow that's a lot worse than Merlino was making it out to be. He said he was having precautionary X-rays and no head injury so didn't sound too bad.

Tbh when I heard "no head injuries" I thought there must be more to this than a minor injury – I felt like it'd be a strange thing to say if he hadn't done some serious damage.
