Obviously our team for Round 1, v the Dogs, will vastly different from our last years team. We have delisted, retired or cleared bout 15 players, many of them experienced. Now we have a raft of young kids, from the draft, Reserves, and will be one of the youngest sides to take the field this season. So, what is your best team on paper for Round 1, ? id hazard a guess, and say it may have say, five debutants in it, for first games. ? I dont know much bout these kids we have drafted, except they are all tall.

Whats our best team. ? Surprised

An injury free team with our best players playing fabulous winning footy consistently will be our best team.

Not sure there will be that many debutants. If we go into round one relatively injury free, it’s still a decent team.
Howe will strengthen an already strong backline and Sidey and DeGoey will share / fill the void left by Treloar. Reckon T Brown might be ready for more mid field responsibility too.
The opportunities will be in the front six. Maybe McCreery comes in as a ready made player and Kelly might get a start in round one.
Usually you tend to trust your experienced players in the early rounds unless someone has really knocked the door down over the pre season. The pecking order will start to sort itself out after the first few weeks and then we will have a better idea of the true shape of the team.
I certainly wouldn’t expect to see either Henry or McInnes in the first half of the season at least ( excessive injuries aside )

Treloar and Stephenson must both be replaced from the team that played against Geelong in the last game of 2020. We will need an ornamental plant to take Stephenson's place but I expect that we will struggle to find another $900,000-a-year player who can have 8 kicks and 5 clangers in a final.

Funny but I don’t remember you saying that when Treloar first arrived at Collingwood 🙄 I guess you were a fair weather Treloar fan😠 You watch him play blinders at the Welfare and cry into your bib😥 A part of me wishes that Treloar plays out of skin against Collingwood so that those dopey magpie administrators realise what a stuff up they caused that may well have cost us a flag or two due to dumb planning by an ordinary footy department😡

You obviously read none of my comments about Treloar (my criticisms actually started in the August before we recruited him) or else your memory has failed you, extraordinarily badly.

Anyway, the point remains - where are we going to find a gun $900,000 mid who can get 8 kicks and have 5 clangers? It's a big ask.

There is a fair chance that Treloar will play (what passes for him as) a "blinder" against Collingwood. The notion, however, that getting rid of him could cost Collingwood a premiership is a very funny one.

HB: Brayden Maynard, Darcy Moore, Isaac Quaynor
C: Chris Mayne, Jay Rantall, Josh Daicos
HF: Will Hoskin-Elliott, Brody Mihocek, Bryaden Sier

The Browns and Cameron are running laps I believe. I struggled to find a defending forward and landed on Sier. I put Rantall in there - he has the km in his legs and I think we should try an blood a newbie each week for a while. I worry about how he's travelling. I'm hoping he's at least as good as Phillips right now.

Can't find a spot for Sidebottom?

Beat me to it and McCreery is that small defensive forward that most are suggesting is ready to go. Tackling machine who knows where the goals are.
He’s a year older than the other draftees too.

Fair enough, laugh away😆 it’s good for your emotional health.😃 My foresight is generally pretty good. I feel that the Welfare will be one of the improvers this season and have a bloody good chance of making the finals. I wouldn’t put it past them to beat the ‘pies in a final with Adam starring, and thereby preventing us from making the GF.
Let’s revisit this at the end of the season👍🏽

What I'd like to see as our starting 22 for next year.

FB: Quaynor - Roughead - Howe

CHB: Pendlebury - Moore - Crisp

C: Daicos - De Goey - C. Brown

CHF: Mihocek - Kelly - Hoskin-Elliott

FF: Elliott - Cox - Sidebottom

R: Grundy - Adams - Maynard

I: T. Brown - Murphy - Sier - Cameron

De Goey needs to go into the middle and start dominating games. It's time for Maynard to go on ball too. As good as he is down back his aggressiveness and kicking are needed elsewhere. Pendles to control between the 50m arcs.
