Unofficially:
Keane - Finger.
(Played a half in last nights intra club match. This was his first real hitout in some time. Still has some work to do, but will return via the VFL very soon).

McInnes - Finger.
(Finally a bit of news. He has been seen at training. He didn't take part in the untra club game, but is not far off).

Sidebottom - Calf.
(Will be unlikely for round one. Test at best).

Kelly - Collar Bone.
(Up to 8 weeks out).

JDG, Mayne, Mihocek and Maynard are all available for round 1, with Adams likely to join them.

Check this link out; Adams puts up hand for R1, but another star Pie reduced to walking - https://www.afl.com.au/news/561149

https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/879771/sidebottom-to-miss-r1-adams-and-maynard-right-to-go

Vice-captain Steele Sidebottom will miss the season opener against the Western Bulldogs as he recovers from a calf injury.
Taylor Adams and Brayden Maynard are right to go for the Dogs after receiving recovering from a hamstring injury and shin knock respectively.

See below for a full update of our injury list from High Performance Manager Kevin White, presented by AIA Vitality.

Taylor Adams (hamstring): Available for selection (Six weeks post-hamstring strain. Entered full football program last week and ticked off high speed running.)

Brayden Maynard (shin): Available for selection (Recovering from knock to shin and was on light duties last week. Will train fully on Tuesday.)

Mark Keane (finger): Expected return: R2 (Entering full training this week. Gradually increasing load through finger as he prepared to return to play.)

Reef McInnes (finger): Expected return: R3 (7 weeks post-finger surgery. Continues with conditioning and football programming. Button to removed this week.

Will Kelly (collarbone): Expected return: R3-4 (Tracking well after collarbone surgery. Running and non-contact football program this week.)

Steele Sidebottom (calf) - Expected return: R2 (Ruled out of round one with calf strain from Community Series game against Richmond. Will look to progress speed and ability to run pain free across the week.be removed this week.)

^ Thank you for that robevpau1.

Things are not looking too bad.

Quote:
Sidebottom - Calf. 1-2 Weeks.
Keane - Finger. 2-3 Weeks.
McInnes - Finger. 3-4 Weeks.
Kelly - Collar Bone. 4-5 Weeks

Good news on Keane. Some were reporting he could be gone for 2 months. Was pleasing to hear he returned to training during the last few days. And even more encouraging that they seem to think round 2.

News on Reef McInnes was non existent until this week. We knew he wasn't training. And we knew he'd hurt his finger weeks back. Round three is excellent news.

And even the Will Kelly news isn't too bad. I saw the images the club shared earlier today. And if he is back by round 4, that is a bonus. I thought he'd be gone much longer.

Steele Sidebottom probably shouldn't have played against Richmond. There was a cloud over him leading into the match. Silly move there Pies. Rest him up, and if there is any doubt, dont bring him back until round 3.

afl.com.au's take:

Quote:
Sidebottom will set his sights on round two or three having not done enough to face the Western Bulldogs on Friday night. Taylor Adams looked sharp in last week's intraclub hitout and again at main training on Tuesday and has been given the green light to play. Kelly is back running and Keane has started joining in full training, however McInnes is another further week away. Chris Mayne is fit to return from concussion but will play in a VFL practice match on Friday afternoon after missing both pre-season matches, while Brody Mihocek is fine after a tight calf.- Mitch Cleary

They have Kelly as 4-8, Reef 1-2 and Tests for Sidey and Keane.

If we can beat the Dogs with no injuries, it'll be a fantastic start. And of course we want no injuries in the VFL game either. We only have 4 guys on the list now, with three of them likely to be available by round 3. Let's hope we stay healthy.

Well apparently no major injuries from the game so that’s a bonus
I’m hearing Sidey is more likely round 3 calf isn’t bad but there going to be cautious

Thanks for that P4S.

Keane is also expected to be available for the VFL (Did he play in the practice game??)

If Keane and Sidebottom are available, that leaves only McInnes (up to 4 weeks) and Kelly (up to 5 weeks) on the injury list. The club and the AFL website to release their injury reports tomorrow. (Possibly later tonight for the Pies)

Keep an eye out here: https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/injury-hub and here: https://www.afl.com.au/news/injury-news

Worth noting Maynard did not train today. He stayed home sick. No concerns there, just under the weather.

Trent Bianco added to injury list with a knee contusion. ( swelling from a knock ) Source - Collingwood website
No timeline yet but my experience is they can be anything from two to six weeks depending on severity of the knock.

https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/886771/sidebottom-available-for-selection-kelly-making-strong-progress

Will Kelly a chance to play practice VFL next week. Amazing. McInnes also looking to play in that match.

So with Sidebottom and Keane both available.....

Quote:
McInnes - (Finger) 1 Week. (Round 3)

Kelly - (Collar Bone) 1-2 Weeks. (Round 3 or 4)

Bianco - (Knee) TBC. (Thanks for reporting Pies2016).

We only have the three guys to worry about. With Reef and Will really close, we just need some good news on Bianco.

Lets go out and beat Carlton and no new injuries!

afl.com.au's take:

Quote:
Sidebottom has been cleared to play after a big session last Friday and a solid hitout at training on Monday. Kelly has made rapid progress after surgery following the AAMI Community Series match with Richmond and could be seen at VFL level in coming weeks. The Pies are awaiting swelling to subside in Bianco's knee before knowing the next steps in his recovery. - Mitch Cleary

Well we got the win over Carlton. However, we have suffered an injury to Jamie Elliott.

Wright was interviewed at half time and said it was a bad sprain or rolled ankle. It is not a knee.

He will have scans tomorrow and we'll know more then.

Focusing on the good news; McInnes should be available for VFL next week and Kelly is also a chance to feature in that game. Very exciting news.

We're still waiting for word on Bianco, but that should have some kind of timeline soon.

Billy has fractured fibula, hopefully not a Swannie scenario.

A "small crack in the fibula", for whatever that’s worth.

"We'll know more once the operation and further scans have been completed but the unfortunate expectation is that he will miss two or three months of football from here. He'll do all the right things to be back as soon as possible and we look forward to having him back in the second half of the season."

Ok, so that's no ideal. I guess the good news is he'll be back at some point this year. Probably around the time we hit our bye. Obviously this can change, but at least we can look forward to him returning mid-June, possibly earlier?

Here we are:

Quote:
McInnes - (Finger) Will be tested this coming week. Very confident he plays in the VFL next weekend.

Kelly - (Collar Bone) Will be tested this coming week. A chance to play next weekend in the VFL, but may miss one more week.

Bianco - (Knee) TBC. We'll know more earlier in the week, Monday or Tuesday.

Elliott - (Ankle) 8-12 Weeks. But this number may change after surgery and further scans. The latest should be around round 14 when we have a bye.
