What do we think about the new man on the mark rule?

Seems to allow for quicker transition when playing the short kick and mark game out of halfback, which may be an advantage to us

At this early stage I see a huge advantage to the player who marks within 40 metres of goal and quickly plays on while the man on the mark can’t move. Other defenders must apply pressure after play on is called. At least make them rush their shots to cause an error. It will be tough to defend those marks once taken so it will be best to do much better at spoiling the marking efforts and running hard from defence. May suit Quainor and Noble etc.

Yep, it certainly is a disadvantage to the defender manning the mark.
It's yet another area of the game open to umpire discretion. Difficult for the umpire to watch two players at the same time and then react appropriately. There will be contentious decisions for sure. Wonder how many dubious decisions will go our way Wink

This! That is the question I ask all my mates when they say they "support" a team.

You should listen to your friends. Support is not exclusively financial.

Were there any new injuries that has come out of yesterdays match. All i know both Pendles and Mihocek were off the ground in the second half as a pre caution though Pendles had ice applied to his knee and same to Mihocek too.

Just watched it and a good hit out —as said only 4 quarters from Round 1

Footscray then Scum who I always enjoy beating

And as for the telecast camera work was very good

Finished Watching it and there are Positives and Negatives

Positives:

- Great to see Grundy back in Form like was was in 2019
- Henry did not get the Ball Much but when he did it was almost all Class. Just the 1 Out of Bounds Full Kick but rest had Class
- WHE Getting more Involved and Kicked a Few Goals
- Sier was Solid
- Good to see us Fight Back after a Bad Start
- Cox doing well in Ruck and Forward

Negatives:

- Ball use espically to Forwards was at time Horrendous
- Getting Caught out the Back a Few Time
- Felt to me Cats got most of the Center Clearances
- Madgen and C Brown still don't look quite up to AFL Level
- Lot of Dropped Marks

Was only a Practice Game so not Home and Away Level but Higher then Match Simulation at Training

Where are all the people retracting their comments about about non-members not being able to watch the game?

Very good post DTM.

I think the positives outweigh the negatives. From what I watched and from what I've read, it was a good hit out and we have some things to look forward to.

Adams is very important to this squad. He'll be ready to play very soon, I just hope he stays fit throughout the year. That'll make a difference in the middle. Sier will only get better too.

Was glad to see WHE getting involved. And very nice to see Grundy playing at a high level again. I hope thats a sign of things to come.

We'll need to work on our F50 delivery and hope to find more targets in the year. Our kicking in might also need a bit of attention.

Henry looks like a good pickup. Put him in your supercoach teams now.

I still feel like we have really good players all over the park, but will really miss that big key forward. Cox and Kelly will have to lift if we're to go anywhere. Will we have someone kick more that 30 goals this year?

I still think we're in the 6th to 10th range. That might change once the real stuff starts. I think the only certainty is that North are in all sorts.

"Sier will only get better". Heard that one 500 times. One injury away from the scrap heap.

Play the kids this year. No chance for the flag.
