Bengals do the unpossible and beat Mahomes in KC.

A 2 win team in 2019 and only 4 wins in 2020 and now they are off to the Superbowl.

The Pack really needs to get a new Special Teams roster and coach - the present incumbents are an embarrassing rabble. How a team that has played off in the NFC Championship game 2 years in a row (and is looking to make it 3 today) could put up with this rubbish week and week out is beyond any sane observer.

The Packers earned the top seed in the NFC despite special teams issues that lasted throughout the season. Drayton's units ranked 31st in ESPN's FPI and dead last in Rick Gosselin's widely respected special teams rankings.

Drayton becomes the eighth straight Packers special teams coordinator to be pushed out. Six were fired and two were forced into retirement.

Drayton took over last offseason after LaFleur fired Shawn Mennenga, who lasted two seasons. Drayton, who had served as an assistant under Mennenga, couldn't get the units going.

In the loss to the 49ers, the Packers became the first team in 33 years to have both a punt and a field goal blocked during the same playoff game. The blocked field goal came on a 39-yard attempt on the final play of the first half that would have given the Packers a 10-0 lead. The blocked punt came with the Packers at their own 12-yard line, and the 49ers returned it for a touchdown -- their only one of the game. That tied the game at 10-10 with 4:41 left.

"You could argue that was the difference in the game," LaFleur said of the blocked punt. "But I think it was more than just that play."

The Packers also allowed a 45-yard kickoff return that set up a 49ers field goal and then had only 10 players on the field against San Francisco's game-winning field goal.

So, Bengals at Rams. I'd like to see the Bengals do it as an hommage to Kenny Anderson and Cris Collinsworth. And it'd be a bit of a shame if Stafford won a Super Bowl after doing nothing for an entire career at Detroit and then landing in a cushy gig with a team with star defenders on every line. But you'd have to think the Rams will win. Then again, I didn't think they'd beat the Bucs.

Anyway, maybe the Packers could learn from how the Rams built a team to go to the Super Bowl. The Packers have a quarterback and one great receiver. The Rams have stars for Stafford to toss it to all over the field. Imagine Rodgers throwing to Cupp and Beckham Jr, as well as Davante Adams. Still, that's not going to happen because La Fleur f^&*ed up three years running and I imagine Rodgers will go to Tampa Bay - who also understand how to treat an epoch-defining quarterback.

Bengals at Rams in the Big One. Bengals defer. Rams punt and then Bengals turn it over on 4th and 1 near midfield. Stafford will have it next.

Bengal defender missed a tackle that would have forced a punt and let the Rams get to the 20.

Beautiful throw by Burrows and catch by Chase got the Bengals to the 11 - but then they were stopped and had to settle for a field goal. 7:3, near the end of the 1st.

Bengals with a highly entertaining drive are back within 3. A trick play saw the running back Mixon throw to Higgins for a TD!

Beckham Jr looks like he may have done his knee trying to catch running across the centre - no defender involved.

Bates picks off Stafford in the end zone on a speculative long throw (3rd and 14). Bengals will have the ball after the 2-minute warning. Still trailing by 3.

The Bengals started at their 10 - I never cease to be amazed at the I’ll-discipline that leads to taunting penalties in these big games. They should have been at their 20 but found themselves backed up.

Burrows gets sacked and they’ll punt. Stafford will have 40 seconds or so.

The punt actually took 12 seconds off the clock. Stafford will have it at his own 41 with 30 seconds (and some timeouts, of course).
