33 disposals (more than any other player in that match) is your idea of "pretty quiet" is it? North got thrashed. Stephenson played well.

I sincerely hope the little shit enjoys playing in front of about 8000 fans per week, at Nth home games. No other club wanted him, no big club, that tells me a lot, tells me a great deal. Razz

Phillips, Treloar and Stephenson all played well in round 1. But good on them.

I remember seeing Bonnici mug some poor Footscray player and thinking "%$^£$%^&%% there's our next tackling coach, right there. Forget asking the Storm how to do it".

They also block and shepherd for each other. The men's team rarely does. Almost had a heart attack when Noble lay one on Smith for Moore. 10 seconds later the ball was sailing into Cox's hands for a walk in goal.

Laid 7 tackles too. Nobody on our team could get that many on the weekend, even considering how little we had the pill ourselves.

I know that they're ex-players and I shouldn't really care unless they are playing against us. And I know that the geniuses who, in 1 fell swoop dumped 4 of our best runners, never could have envisaged that the game was about to come that much faster this year. But it is still a mistake that they made. They still removed practically all of what little run we had. They removed 2 of our most attacking players in JS and AT at a time when we can barely kick 10 goals a game. And they are still ******* there.

I'm not expecting us to sack our list manager or coaches on the eve of round 2. Much as they've ballsed everything up, sacking them now would probably only make it worse. But I seriously want none of them at the club next year. And I hope like hell that the club is already moving to find their replacements.

Oh and that goes double for the 'high performance' people who can't get our full suite of stars fit for finals each and every year.

The thing is once you know someone is gone, its always best to end it immediately... nothing is gained by leaving someone who is not part of the future/solution in the most important role at the club. Buckley is finished, everyone knows it... why not tell him his time is done and he can remain in a position as 'handover coach until his replacement is found (I would suspect Lyon to be installed within 2 weeks max from that point). Than whoever is the new coach can start his/her work immediately to setting new systems, testing them practically, building player moral, building supporter moral, etc etc. The club comes 1st and this is whats best for the club.

Thanks for your positive post Cam. I'm pretty depressed atm, so a bit of a reminder of how things can change quickly was good to read.

Indeed K, 11/22 from anyone on Friday night would have been more than handy!

^ Pendlebury had 13/13. No-one playing for Footscray had more than 12 contested. Bont had 11/18, Dunkley 11/19, Liberatore 10/21 and Smith 10/25.

OK, anyone other than Pendles...although I'd have thought that was a given

^ Yes, I was agreeing with you - the point is that getting "just" 11 contested possessions happens even in dominant teams who have the 9 highest disposal-winners in a game. Stephenson had more of the ball in his game than Bont did in ours. I don't think Stephenson "starred" but he played very well, for his first ever real run in the midfield.

He went at 69%, so 23 effective possessions.
Still ain’t bad for a first game at a new club.
