Utter crap, keyboard warriors on the march. Interim coach wont work, aka Teague, get real, Bucks goes at end of season, Club calls Presser at end of July, Bucks announces hes leaving at end of August, he walks, gives us all of August and September, to look for the best replacement, led by Graham Wright and a panel. Hopefully, Clarkson, Hodge, or Scott, the former Nth one. Two full months to find an ideal replacement. Its not rocket science.

What you get with Nathan Buckley is a package. He's good at some things and poor at others but I think most of us agree that Buckley is at his best when he has good assistant coaches around him. None of us are going to agree about Buckley's good points and bad points. It all comes down to personal opinion. What I don't like is people cruelling a club legend with some of the things being printed. Personally I've had enough with the coach and think it's best he departs with all the other coaches. I'm not willing to say however that without the transition we would have won more premierships under Mick Malthouse. People are rewriting history here. Mick was self destructing in 2010. Ten years is long enough under any coach including Nathan Buckley and Mick Malthouse and 22 years under the one president however good he is is too long.

Fully agree, Bucks has to go, yes, but some of the comments here bout him are just pathetic an disgusting, so immature. Bucks walks at seasons end, August for us, most likely, with the Assistants. Then we get a whole new team in next season, under a new top Coach, Graham Wright knows his oats on getting Coaches. Idea

Rubbish Piesnchess. Club needs to say exactly what its doing as soon as humanly possible.

And it will in good time, but u dont run with some of the disgusting an vile comments here bout Bucks, the immature hatred of him is out of control here, and i dont want to be associated with any of it, an im surprised you do. Bucks will go, seasons end, maybe the Club will come out and say that soon, with Bucks speaking, we just have a new President for Chrissakes, give him time. We will have a new proper Coach soon, and new Assistants, thats a gimme, it will happen.

Bullshit, you dont sack a Club legend like that,

then maybe they shouldnt be hired in the first place, Hird, Voss and Buckley the golden three as players...... not sure that being a champion player makes you automatically a good coach, not even a great one, just a good one. why do they get to queue jump? the writing was on the wall, it was clear Bux didnt agree with MM on coaching matters, change over or not, it certainly wasnt a good atmosphere in my mind. ill take the proper apprentice thanks,

Perhaps just let the world turn Wolf, without trying to knock it off its axis? Wink Very Happy

I am sure Wright and co will say something when they have something worthwhile to say, which may not be, as Piesnchess has suggested, until August. Doesn't mean they won't be moving mountains behind the scenes to appoint a decent, new coach and assistants.

In the meantime, I reckon Bucks and the players would like some clear air to just get on with the job. The media won't give it to them of course, but I don't see why us supporters should join in the feeding frenzy as well. Crying or Very sad

This season, despite not yielding many wins, will be important in so many other ways.......such as nurturing the young and untried players so that they get the most out of their careers in the future.

Plus, unlike some, I reckon it's important to release Bucks in a dignified, respectful manner, to show that the "new" Collingwood Football Club has regained some measure of lost professionalism and is a place where coaches and players would be keen to be at.

If Wright is doing that now it will leak out very quickly then they will have to deal with the constant questions about it.

I suppose that Phillips just didn't fit the image our club was looking for, not having the requisite sleeve tattoos, stupid haircuts and criminal proceedings pending. All he had going for us was that he was the best wingman at our club, was intelligent, educated and had a social conscience.

When you put it like that I feel like vomiting...
I always thought I barracked for a club that meant something.

I was quite fond of Phillips and Treloar as fine people.
Makes me wonder if it's time to move on.

Buckleys last year unless a miracle happens
There is no point sacking him appoint a fill in coach and replace them at the end of the year.

How about forming a group to look at the replacement and do it professionally. The talk of no-one wanting to coach Collingwood is total BS every team gets coaches and more apply than get picked

Sack the coach, we are in crisis, we have no depth, dont help and going forward a less emotional discussion needs to take place.

I didn't understand what occurred with Phillips last year.
It almost seemed to me to be incredible that such an aerobic athlete would be taken away from the wing where he was well established and plonked in the forward line, in a position that did not suit him.
The comment that the emergence of Daicos on a wing forced Buckley's hand is rubbish. There are two wings, and who replaced Phillips there? Mayne? And Madgen this year at times?
Was that a ploy to force Phillips to walk, knowing that cap space had to be found?
I suppose that Phillips just didn't fit the image our club was looking for, not having the requisite sleeve tattoos, stupid haircuts and criminal proceedings pending. All he had going for us was that he was the best wingman at our club, was intelligent, educated and had a social conscience.

I don’t think social conscience, educated or intelligent are in any way relevant to winning a game of football.....or winning one on one contests, kicking straight and actually influencing a game.
I saw Phillips at the beginning of 2020 at a beach kicking a footy with his brother. If you explained to someone that didn’t follow the game that he was a top level player, they would’ve laughed.
Unfortunately for Phillips, he was too one dimensional and didn’t impose himself enough when it mattered.

Regardless of anything else I've ever said in this forum - I do trust in Wright's judgement, so be it, let it be so...

I have it on good authority that Wright isn’t a big fan of Bucks, and that he was brought in to get rid of him at the end of the season. Personally I thought that Bucks didn’t have it from about 2014. So in my mind he has been there for seven years too long. I also thought Eddie should have gone about 6 years ago.

Despite most people wanting to blame Bucks for our loss to the Bumbers, the fact is we had a midfield of midgets - Daicos, Macrae, Rantall and Sidey. Only Pendles and at times Crisp, have any size. In the absence of Adams and De Goey, we had no-one with any grunt. It's such a shame that Sier has not improved over his 4 yrs with us. Similarly, Tyler Brown seems to have stagnated.

Unfortunately, there is nothing in the ressies which will fix this in the short term. In the longer term, Poulter looks like he could become our Bontempelli, but he is a tad skinny atm. So the longer term looks bright, but short term we are in for a barrel of pain.
