Post subject: Should we have hung on to pick 2? | |
|
Me thinks that it might have been more valuable than we thought. I know we would trade it away due to Daicos, but did we get number 2 pick value for that pick.
We screwed up on the Treloar deal because we thought our team was better than it was. i think we might have done it again.
Who'd we end up giving it to? Greater Western Sydney for a couple of mid second rounders and a fourth rounder. Oh boy. They must be loving it. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

A monumental cock up ...did they actually think we were contending with this list minus Treloar, Stevo and Phillips? Deluded clowns _________________ "You hate a mean man, a grasping man, a man who wants everything and gives nothing. That’s Collingwood. They are a law unto themselves"

To think I was so widely attacked for daring to suggest it would be a top 5 pick... |

The only argument was it’d be used on Daicos anyway, well at current rate that means North are the only team who could bid on him before us, we might even end up with no1! But instead we traded it for about pick 30? |

Only pick 1 would guarantee it wouldn't it? |

Let’s wait until we have played Hawks, Roos, Saints and GC but realistically we are probably parting with a top 4 pick. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

Only if we prove to have finished 18th.
Daicos is now firming even more as number one ( #2 pick at worse ) If we finish anything higher than 17th, then that pick would have to be used on Daicos when we are obliged to match the bid.
Should we finish 18th, that would have really hurt because we would have got a pick in before Daicos was called. Having said that, it would then be a tad problematic trying to accumulate the points needed to secure Daicos having just invested our number one pick elsewhere.
The 2020 draft was considered a very strong draft, while the 2021 crop isn’t rated as anything special after the first few picks. I wouldn’t discount that minor detail when analysing why we did what we did on draft night. |

Certainly is and be careful as Eddie took exception to the word 'debacle' on Footy Classified a few Wednesday's ago used by Sam.
After all, winning premierships --- according to Ed --- is not the only measure of success.
Still does my head in that comment and he should apologise!!! _________________ COLLINGW09D |

Seems to be a lot of that talk going around the club, very concerning.
Grundy doesn’t care about premierships, the club plants on here aren’t concerned with winning games as long as we have a club champion as coach, we keep reappointing a coach who has seen the team go backwards in 9/10 seasons he’s been in charge. |

North are the worst team in the league this year by a margin, so it's hard to see us finishing below them

I think that probably is the article ES is referring to. Clearly he failed to read it with any care or comprehension. _________________ Side by side. |

We got 2 second rounders, which, with all the on-trading and matching bids bs probably worked out to be Poulter and McMahon?
When looking at our trading overall, we've seemingly brought in a few quality lads, and the extra year of getting games and experience into them is another factor that is difficult to quantify.
As someone mentioned on another thread, this draft was said to be deep and a bit more of a gamble to find gems/back your recruiting from previous years because of a lack of exposed form due to Covid. 5 picks in the top-30 as well as McCreery at 44 who looks pretty good so far seems alright to me. |
