Start the rebuild with this game. Try players in different positions. Bring in kids for veterans that arent up to it anymore.

YESS...but you're just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.

Don't bother with the ordinary: Thomas, Sier, the Brown Bros
Trade out: JDG (troublesome personality), Sidebottom (a spent force)
There we are, already 6 places more for other players to come in.

* Get a decent, brute-force Centre-Half-Forward like other teams have.
* Look for a specialist, exciting, accurate sharp-shooter
* Make the inside mid positions THE priority, try out all the young mids
* Come up with a winnable Gameplan to encourage enterprising footy and excite the fans, and
* Players should want to play for each other, fans and coach (require new coach?)
* Take a good look at assistant coaches. Are they up to it, or time for change?

Great idea, now where is all this talent coming from?

We’ve got no draft picks this year thanks to last year to either pick up players or use in a trade.

We could easily lose this. If the players have downed tools as I suspect, I think North have a massive opportunity. They’ve been better since the Good Friday debacle they endured though whether it’s enough to get them over the line is another story.

Moore needs go back into defence. I’d keep Thomas in the middle as he actually won some clearances. Wouldn’t be surprised if another debutant is named, I suspect it will be Reef McInnes if that’s the case.

I’m just hoping our brand and style of football changes, because it’s shithouse at the moment. Play with some flair and dare please!

If we lose, the club has to pull the pin on Buckley surely?

3/1, not 13/1.... I don't think any side has ever been 13/1 in an AFL game.

Actually, I just checked, Gold Coast were 16/1 to beat Sydney last week Shocked

St Kilda were 15/1 when they beat the Dockers in 2014
Gold Coast were 14/1 when they beat Port in 2011
Brisbane were 11/1 when they beat essendon in 2013

North were 13/1 – I know because I put $5 on them (to win $65)!

I very much doubt Gold Coast were remotely close to 16/1 against Sydney last week. They were $2.40 according to this site: https://bettingsite.com.au/gold-coast-vs-sydney-afl-round-6-betting-tips-april-24-2021/

You may be getting confused with the match they won against the Swans in 2018, when they were indeed 17/1 outsiders, which is still the record, apparently:

Been saying this for 3 weeks but we absolutely have to win this one

Despite all our issues I refuse to believe we can't get over a team that is clearly the worst in the league by a margin and averaging just 54 points a game

Jezza I think part of our problem is mixed messages
We are obviously not playing finals yet the president says we are aiming too
Internally I think that the club partially due to salary cap and partially due to realisation decided at the end on 2020 that the list wasn’t going to contend going forward
Our best player in Pendles is the wrong side of 30
Sidey output has declined massively
Grundy has become a shadow of what he was in 2018
JDG isn’t the player we bargained on him becoming (to lazy at times he’s the definition of a down hill skier)
Mayne Greenwood are past there best
C Brown hasn’t yet been able to cement a starting 22 spot
WHE barely impacts a game throughout 4 quarters
Thomas shows up for about 5 minutes a quarter
Other than checkers we have exactly nil forward options who can kick 2 or goals a week

If the leaders are aware mentally we aren’t playing finals and that we are trying to rebuild on the run there motivation levels would be down it’s human nature
Players play to win games and namely finals and premierships
Take that away from them and what are they really playing for especially those 30+ who know there days are numbered until retirement

Moore must play CHB the forward experiment isn’t and won’t work
Play Cameron at FF he isn’t a bad mark and he’s a half way decent kick
Roughead must play FB he can’t be taken up the ground he’s to slow and doesn’t have the engine to do the running
Keane can’t be our FB he’s to easily beaten in the air he’s still learning
Thomas starts in the middle with Daicos and either Crisp or Sier
Sidey plays forward and becomes our forward general because right now he isn’t any value in the middle
Pendles off the HBF so he can organise team defence structure
Crisp into the middle rotating with IQ
JDG plays like Martin starts at centre contest then goes forward
Sier comes in and plays the Adams role until Adams is back
Poulter Rantall McCeery Murphy Henry Kelly all be given extended games to get used to pace of AFL
Youthful exuberance won’t hurt this team at all
When they tire to much from weekly bashing give them a week off in seconds then straight back in
Play them in there proffered roles not roles they aren’t used too
Yes it will be a baptism of fire but learning in the job sometimes is the best way
Our leaders need to be on field coaches now teaching the young players and if they can’t or won’t commit to helping rebuild the team then time for them to go

Took gold cost at $3.05 last week and have taken the Roos this week at $3.30. It’s a 50:50 game at best, they’re way overs

Yes, North at the line (+20.5) is a very sound option (not that my footy betting has been much chop this season Smile )

Ah yes David, correct, those odds were from 2018 on GC to beat Sydney.

In: Henry Tohill Rantall Sier

Out: Mayne Keane De Goey ?

How did Sier play in the VFL, Dave?

VFL stats (given in my highly-subjective order of our best players):

- Henry 22 disposals, 13 marks and 3.3.
- Wilson 30 disposals, 9 marks, 1.1.
- McInnes 20 disposals, 11 tackles, 1 goal.
- Sier 28 disposals, 1.1.

Madgen also had 25 disposals but he made a lot of errors.

Henry and Wilson were the two who looked to me like they could play seniors next game.

Don’t believe what I’m reading about De Goey. He’s a champion. When he’s given the opportunity he’ll produce the goods. It would be further suicide to trade him out of the club.

Watching the VFL Henry, McInnes and Wilson all put theirs hands up.

In: Henry, McInnes, Wilson
Out: Mayne, Thomas, WHE

Play IQ in the middle. Wilson can take his spot.
Henry at half forward wing. Provides a target.
Rotate McInnes and Macrae through the middle.

We need to change it up. North have a young side so best change to put our kids up against theirs

we know hes a champion, we just think he is arrogant, lazy, unfit, and not committed to being the best he is.

i absolutely agree with everything you wrote here,

and ill add, anyone, ANYONE, who doesnt give their last bit of sweat in a game, can piss off.

problem is i dont think the coach will like those changes!! plan A will work oneday - even if its in a practice match, against chosen opposition!

I don't care much if we win or lose. I just want to see the development of our next generation Pies players. Macrae, Mcreery, Murphy and Poulter should hold their spots.

Having watched the VFL, I'd bring in Sier and Henry and drop Mayne and Brown.

I've been banging on about it for weeks, but I'd love to see Quaynor used in the midfield. And obviously, Moore should be moved back to defence. I agree with others that it's time we moved Pendles to the backline and shifted Sidey forward. As for De Goey, he needs a fire cracker shoved up his arse, to make him play with more urgency.

I like the ins McInnes coming in is a especially good. We win games when we tackle and he had a high tackle count in the vfl. JDG shouldn't play center - he is more effective in high forward. Moore to the backline.

Against pop opinion I'd keep JT. There are lots of opinions about unsighted and no good, but look at his stats. He normally only plays 60% game time and is in the middle of the possession counts - he is one of the few players that tackles regularly and I don't think him a bad kick.
