Bitter end for me, always, never left a gf before the end, and only a handful of other games

Apart from the 1980 GF when I left at half time and heard Roy and HG commentate on 3RRR the alternative GF ( at least I think it was them) and in their version the mighty pies got up in a huge win v the tigers ( I was soooo upset couldn’t bear the pain) I stay till the end too.

I’ll be going again on Sat to support my pies.

actually that one was less painful, because it was so laughable, i remember joking with the tiger fans next to us. i think i even watched the presentation!!

It's the losses to Carlton that hurt the most.

We struggled to get to the 1980 GF, we finished 5th at the end of the H&A if I recall. Never a chance against the Tigers. Hafey was silly for pushing them too hard at training, when they had to go to the GF via the Elimination Final.

Yeah spot on TP. Unfortunately in those days they never questioned the training methods or challenged coaching strategies like they do today. Alf Brown, Percy Beams etc were brilliant footy journos who mainly analysed the players and the teams rather than the tactical nous of the coaches.
