Yankees v Red Sox game postponed due to 3 positive corony cases... all 3 were fully vaccinated. Hmmm, that works well, doesn't it?

A lot of questions are going to be answered in the next few weeks.

We're going to find out how good the Giants really are. 7 games against the Dodgers, 3 against the Astros and 3 against the Brewers in the next 3 weeks.

It doesn't get any easier either, with a series against the Mets early in August and three games in Oakland to round out the month.
Then September is full of games against; Dodgers, Brewers, Cubs & Padres.

Always nice to kick off a series against LA with a win Cool

Especially when it's 7 - 2 in front of the 51,000 at Dodger stadium, as the underdog, very nice indeed Very Happy

Buster Posey, the veteran(One of the items I received when finishing the 2014 SF Half marathon, was a Buster Posey bobble head), had some cracking hits.

The Dodgers are a drifting $5 favourite for the WS, while the Giants have now firmed up to $12.
White Sox, Astros & Padres are in single figure odds.

Rays, Metts, Brewers, Red Sox, Athletics & Blue Jays are the others under $20.

Well the Giants take game 3 (after losing game 2) in LA.

A very interesting stat this season and one I struggle to understand between the Giants and the Dodgers.

Both sides have excellent overall home records, as well as away records... except for when they play each other! 14 games between the two so far this season. Only 4 games won by the home team, which, has been LA on all of those occasions.

Giants have won 6 (from 10) @ Dodger Stadium.
Dodgers have won all 3 @ Oracle Park.

The Giants have only beaten the Dodgers 4 times in the last 21 games at home.

They play again tomorrow in LA. Dodgers $1.54, Giants $2.50.

Then the Giants get 9 games at home, 3 against the Pirates, 3 with the Dodgers and 3 with the Astros.

The Dodgers stay in LA for 3 against the up & down Rockies before SF and then Arizona for 3 against the lowly Diamondbacks.

And the Giants take it!

3-1 down at the top of the 9th (and paying $21 to win!) the Giants smash 4 runs to steal it.

The 'away' team domination between these 2 continues.

They keep writing the Giants off...

Although the Giants hold a four-game lead over the Dodgers, it is their rivals who PECOTA still projects as winners of the NL West with a record of 100-62 (actually 99.8-62.2) with the Giants finishing 96-66 (95.9-66.1). That means the Dodgers would go 28-16 over the last 44 games while the Giants do a slow fade at 20-24.

The Giants have 28 of the 44 remaining against; Padres (10), Mets (6), Rockies (6) & Braves (6).... I can see them winning 20 of those!

The remainder (16) against; Brewers (4), Athletics (3), Dodgers (3), Cubs (3) & Arizona (3), take that lot 50/50 for another 8 wins.

SF Giants will finish top in the National league. Cool

Since the article was posted, SF have gone 7-2.

The Giants have 28 of the 44 remaining against; Padres (10), Mets (6) leading 4-1 in current series., Rockies (6) 1 win so far & Braves (6).... I can see them winning 20 of those!

The remainder (16) against; Brewers (4), Athletics (3) won series 2-1, Dodgers (3), Cubs (3) & Arizona (3), take that lot 50/50 for another 8 wins.

Giants would have to go 13-21 in the remainder to fill the prediction.

Dodgers have gone 8-1 since (down 1-0 against Padres top of the 3rd right now).

A strange few days. Dodgers have gone 2-2 from their last 4 with 2 losses as red hot favourites to the Rockies.

Giants also going 2-2 with 2 losses to the Braves.

Massive week coming up for the Giants - 4 games against the Brewers (3rd NL table) and 3 against the Dodgers (2nd). All games are in SF... need to win at least 4 of those, preferably 5 or 6!

Yes you can cash out. I can cash out my bet on SF now for 140% of my initial stake.

What you would do in the scenario you give (which I did when I backed Richmond early in 2017 @14/1) is back whoever your pick is playing to win the game.

I had $100 on Richmond at 14/1 about 8 weeks out from the finals.
When they lined up against Adelaide, I put $500 on Adelaide @ $1.80.... I couldn't lose. Sure I could have won $500 more if I'd just stuck with my initial wager but being guaranteed a minimum profit of $300 was a no brainer.
I collected $1500 for a total outlay of $600.

Yep. But easier when it's a two-horse race than when there are still 3+.

It's tricky deciding when to cash out. Early this year, a poster on this board put money on the multi of The Bont for Charlie ($11) and WB for the flag ($11) for a return of $121. This was a good bet. It's still good! But in hindsight it probably maxed a few weeks ago. Cash out at that time would have been the best. But who would have predicted WB would lose 3 games in a row and The Bont lose form?

A bit of a stutter from the Giants, losing the series 3 games to 1 against the Brewers.

Dodgers and Giants level at the top of the table with 85 wins each, Brewers breathing down their necks with 82 wins.

Massive 3 games series Giants v Dodgers at SF kicks off tomorrow. This could well decide who takes out the NL West division.
