Listening to Footy Classified on Wednesday night I could have sworn the statement was made that Lyon has now ruled himself out of the Collingwood job.

Yep, Caroline stated that Lyon had ruled himself out and Lyon, sitting next to her, said nothing to refute this. Plus the opinion he then gave that it was "silly" of Collingwood to let Bucks go, would hardly elevate him in the eyes of Wright and the board, even if he was interested.

So there's only one viable option for this poll, which means it's not a poll at all. Wink

Tough choice. I like Ross Lyon's very articulate views about the game. I just wish he didn't leave teams in bad shape after he exits a club because he doesn't develop kids or freshen up his lists.

Hmm, Williams hasn't held a senior spot since Port Adelaide. It seems like quite a long time between drinks for him and I'm not sure that would be wise. The important difference between us and clubs like Carlton or Melbourne when they former got Pagan and Mick Malthouse and the latter, Paul Roos - is that it seems like a desperate move for a club that is really struggling.

I'm not sure we're in the position where we need to dust off an ex-senior coach to steady the ship a la what Roos did at the Dees. We're not cellar dwellers so methinks, a younger coach but I'm quite ambivalent.

Mark Williams before anyone else.

Anyone else before Ross Lyon.

I actually want Sam Mitchell, excellent pedigree, but if i had to choose these two, its Lyon for me, i want someone from outside the Collingwood bubble, now. Choco is a bit of a loose cannon for me, could rub players up the wrong way.

Neither. We need an experienced assistant coach, not an ex-senior coach.

Cannot believe it has come to this

Both are nowhere near our recently departed coach
If Collingwood believes either Lyon or Williams can deliver us the next flag they are dreaming

What Lyon should know is that the average tenure of a Carlscum coach these days is <3 seasons

So maybe he wants a short payout before retiring again

I actually think he'll do ok at Carlton, might not win a flag, but then again who knows. They'll be far more competitive with him driving them thats for sure.

Well defence is their major onfield problem IMO so he might suit them. It's not ours

We've been dreaming since 1959 onwards for 2 pleasures...
