Look, barring a bloody miracle, i cannot see Robert Harvey being made our permanent Coach. His passing over by Norf, for their job, and the Saints, was probably his last shot in the locker. Harvey is however, one of the best four Saints players ive seen, others being Baldock, Lockett, Riewoltd, and 2 Brownlows speaks for itself. ! I know some on here, loathe him as our Assistant, whether they think hes too quiet, no fire in the belly, i dont know, but hes had his detractors here. To be honest, i know very little bout him, ive only ever heard him speak, about 4 times in recent yrs. hes never got any media at all, really, it was always BUCKS !

I reckon he may surprise us all a bit, theres no doubt he will continue Bucks youth policy, no doubt at all, we have had 8 debutants this season, so far, and ir reckon he may select this kid Ash Thompson, very soon, to spark up our forward line even more, hopefully. He will continue down the kids path, and i reckon he might be a bit more attacking style than Bucks was, our defence is very good, one of the best in the comp, very mingy, we have not been belted once, even sides like the Tigers and Eagles have been smashed. So, i expect under Harvey we could well be far more attacking, more dariing, taking risks out of the centre, more forward attacking moves.

So, Harves has 11 games to prove himself, what do you think he will bring to our table, in coaching style, to now show his real wares ? Smile

I think he'll bring a more relaxed style to coaching the team than Nathan Buckley. He has the advantage of knowing all the players and knowing Nathan's coaching manual with the players. I would have thought that would give him a great advantage over the other applicants for the job. The only disadvantage is they'll be people at the club who want to make a clean break with the Buckley era and so Harvey and Sanderson will become fall out for that policy.

Hopefully we get a few wins and some more games into our youth. Can't see Harves being any chance of getting the job next year.

I wish him and the side success right thru the season remaining. Why would I not. It’s team I love

But if he’s not the one the normal go for a new experienced or well credentialed coach will be a clean out and his own team of assistants

Here’s to 11 weeks of great effort and a lot of W,s

I hope Harvey is moved on at seasons end, but I don't mind him being caretaker for the rest of the season.

Apparently he has a very good rapport with the players, which helps. I suspect he'll stick to largely the same plan as Buckley. It's difficult changing a style of play mid-season.

TBH I'm tired of constantly reading in the media **** (fill in name of random person in footy department) is "well liked by the players".

Don't want them to be hated, but just being liked is not good enough.

Agreed. My grandmother made great scones doesn't mean she should run a cake factory

Maybe a factory specialising in scones. 😉

FWIW, Harvey has been in charge of many areas of the team and gameplan that we have been terrible at.

It’s going to be interesting, he has been made the scapegoat by Buckley’s brigade for any bad results over the blast 10 years. We’ll see what he can actually do

He had an attempt or two at senior coach at other clubs without success so did he work at Collingwood and get comfortable due to disappointment of said lack of success

By that I mean is he still a driven person

Wouldn't mind if we lost every game by a point from here as there's only draft downside to be gained from wins.

Would indicate Harvey is nearly excellent?

The day i want us to lose games, by a point is the day i stop barracking for the Magpies, a total loser attitude, and very poor indeed, to actually want the Club too lose, Unreal. Just Unreal. Confused Rolling Eyes

One of a coach,s jobs apart from instructing how to play is to instill a winning attitude. Let the men he coach,s know that successfull play isimportant
So is a winning attitude

Good sides (Tigers ) go out firmly believing they are good enough if they all buy in to it they will win

So Robert let them know what’s important
