No. 22 no. 5 no. 35 and no. 42 are the numbers revered at Collingwood. I think the club just Needs to make sure that these aren’t handed out lightly. Time to get 42 back on the park. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

I honestly don't particularly care what number the kid wears. Just get him in a Collingwood jersey.

#35 will always be associated with Peter Daicos. In my opinion, moving it around every year devalued it, especially when in many years such as this one the #35 is mostly in the VFL.
I say give #35 to Nick Daicos on a permanent basis. It's a club decision. and would be a popular one. |

He may want a different number especially as he will probably want to carve out his own legacy _________________ "You must be a parking ticket, cuz you got fine written all over you" Glen Quagmire |

Let's consider some flexibility.
If Nick Daicos wants to continue #35, Presti wouldn't even dream of stopping him.. in fact, I think Presti would be aghast at the thought of it. He would be first in line to give it to him.
Put yourself in Presti's shoes. Would any of you have even the slightest regret of giving a young kid his dad's number? I'm sure not.
After Nick retires.. it could go back to the first picked.
So it comes down to this.. 35 is available to Nick if he wants it. Otherwise, he can hand it back. His call, without animosity from any reasonable person.
btw
Whatif Neville Bruns kid hated Mathews with a passion.. I mean with raging hate! Would he hypothetically be forced to weak Mathews number ? To Honor Mathews ?
The answer is no... so .. flexibility is good.. wisdom should always prevail. |
