No nominations so far, and yet we have blooded a fair amount of young players.....

That is a bit concerning IMO.

Poulter?
McCreery?

Maybe its best we dont have a rising star nomination this year...incase collingwood decide to trade him in a year or two for a lump of coal

If he can have a game where he gets 4 or more goals Bianco will get one.

I've put a couple of bucks on Poulter at 66/1.

It feels like the nominations this year have been a bit skewed without any footy being played in Vic last year.
Of the 15 nominations this year, only five have come from the 2020 draft but more importantly, four of those nominations came from states that played last year. Nik Cox ( # 8 ) is the only Vic to date who has been nominated from the 2020 crop. I think it’s further validation that we shouldn’t have high expectations on our 2020 picks, given most were Vic kids.
Obviously Poulter and McCreery we’re both S A but they were also both picks in the thirties and were selected behind all those who have already nominated in the 2020 lot.
Unfortunately we didn’t even buy into the 2019 draft until late but at least Bianco looks like a serious talent.
I reckon 2022 will be our year for multiple nominations.
As for 2021, probably Poulter at this stage.

Damien Adkins, Richard Cole, Matthew Lokan, Guy Richards, Brad Dick, Jaxon Barham and many others received a rising star nomination.

Dane Swan and Steele Sidebottom never got one.

These nominations mean absolutely nothing.

Can I play the negative cards here? None of ours yet deserve it.

These players are the only ones that have impressed:-
(Stating the obvious)
* Beau McCreery
* Caleb Poulter
* Trent Bianco

Theses players need regular time for the remaining of the year:-
* Mark Keane
* Will Kelly
* possibly Wilson

I was looking at the blurb on Nick Daicos' no.1 draft rating.
How impressive - a centre wizard who has also kicked 10 goals in 5 games.
Can't wait to see him in our ranks.

If we're talking best first year player McCreery would have had it in the bag until he got injured. Now Poulter has it to lose. Bianco is leaving his run too late. If we're talking rising star award, if Poulter puts in a blinder or Bianco kicks 4+ goals in a game you can expect a nomination for either. Otherwise I wouldn't be holding breath waiting for a nomination and even if one gets it, neither are going to win it.

I'm just rapped that we're blooding so many first year players. When we win the premiership in 2024 we'll look back and say 2021 was the year we took the first step in the rejuvenation process of rebuilding towards a premiership. Buckley will receive no credit for what he has done. All that will go to the new coach. That's life.
