Nope the guys here could turn a dick pic into a political statement, there’s not a discussion on earth thus forum doesn’t make political! I’m jezza is sick of me checking if I’m left or right, but politics doesn’t bother me as much as being bitchy for the sake of it, and name calling, it’s just so not necessary
Assholes! |
You could do this really strictly, though. Any mention of politics gets deleted in those threads. Would that be roughly feasible David/P4S?
|
I suppose we could do that, along the lines of the two injury threads in General Discussion – one for COVID-19 news and updates, and another for political discussion around it. I don't mind too much either way, but let me know if that's something you guys would like and I'll split the thread. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

My view on that is that the only person trying to politicise the Covid discussion is WPT.
Yes I've made lots of comments and comparisons between Gladys and Dandrews approach, but that isn't politically motivated. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I think there have been at least half a dozen posters who have regularly engaged in political commentary and/or debate in that thread (as they’re entitled to; obviously there are plenty of political dimensions to how COVID is handled by governments). So I don’t think it’s necessary to point the finger at anyone – it’s just a question of whether the board would be better served by cordoning off those discussions in a separate space where people who don’t want to engage with political argument don’t have to. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Just about every topic ends up as an ideological or political argument.
X thing happened (name your event /topic) and its because of some political or ideological reason, even if it isn't. Everyone has their own favorites they like to push or label some one else as even if its not true. _________________ Pi = Infinite = Collingwood = Always

For me it's just the same old people trotting out the same old arguments
When you know which group to put someone in it's easy to predict what they're going to have an issue with and which politician they're going to blame
It's all getting rather old
Leftist hypocrite, good solid upstanding conservative, it's all a blur these days
I could probably write a script to automate people's responses. |

I mean when I come back after a five (?) year hiatus and it's the same core group of people, it's not really about the politics and the arguments at all. You gotta get some new blood in. If you're not growing, you're atrophying. |

That would be pretty funny – you should do it!
As for a VPT recruitment drive, I'm down. Just need to work out what we're offering as a sweetener: a beanie? A free Jim Beam tasting at think positive's? A series of ten one-on-one history tutoring sessions with Tannin? Suggestions encouraged. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

If you want to encourage more Gen Z's to post here, you need some simple inducements.
1. Every post gets a star
2. Stars can be exchanged at a rate of 50 stars to 5 minutes of immunity from moderation for swearing at or otherwise belittling a poster over 50 years old.
3. 1 month moratorium on spelling and/or grammar
4. 1 month moratorium on any form of criticism from anyone
5. 1 month moratorium on facts supporting an opinion. During that time, their opinion is to be accepted as scientific fact.
6. Immunity from attending Tannin's history class , David's exotic movie discussion group and WPT's alternative history group where everything bad that has happened in Australia since 1438 AD is the fault of Scott Morrison. They're free to attend TP's bourbon classes but can drink an Aperol Spritz or a craft beer instead _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
