Nathan Ellis' remarkable journey from club cricketer to Australia fast bowler is complete after the 26-year-old Tasmanian was named to make his international debut as part of a rejigged XI in Dhaka.

Ellis, only added to the squad for the Bangladesh leg of the extended limited-overs trip abroad, had T20I cap No.98 presented to him by Mitchell Starc ahead of Friday's must-win third match against Bangladesh.

Ellis coincidentally replaced Starc in the side, with Josh Philippe and Andrew Tye also making way for Ben McDermott and Dan Christian respectively.

Stuart Broad will miss the second Test. Calf injury. Mark Woods comes into the squad.

James Anderson is also in doubt, with a quad muscle niggle. Saqib Mahmood has been called up as cover.

Craig Overton is already in the squad.

Shardul Thakar out (hamstring injury). Ashwin in??

Player of the Match in Test 1 was Joe Root.

Could Root now be the third-best batsmen in the world, behind only Kane and Virat? Question Or even above Virat? He's had a good year so far...

(I haven't forgotten about Marnus, but is he really in that company? True, he has been easily more than twice as good as Smith in the last two years, but maybe that's not such a big achievement.)

Of course, Kane showed his superiority in the WTC final, guiding his country to victory and scoring over 100 runs for once out in very difficult batting conditions. All educated cricket followers must have felt in their bones that he would do that. I certainly did. The harder the conditions, the more at stake, the more Kane towers over all the FTBs.
