Obesity is a major cause of heart disease - Australia biggest killer. So why are the club promoting #unhealthy industries that harm our community.

Was once (late 70's early 80's) a great feed for a treat now 'n then.
Had some a few years ago and swore to never eat the fat dripping muck again.

There's only one decent fast food for a feed and that's a Whopper with cheese, heavy pickle, heavy onion, light on the sauce and mayo.
Have one of those a month when I'm on R n R.

You name me one sponsor whose product cannot be somehow twisted into a killing aid? Also what is the logical link between any healthy food or drink, except being tampered with or over indulged, and acute health/physical problems? Any biggish product could be used as a weapon or a piece of clothing or string could be used to strangle someone. Vehicles and other passenger transportation services can be dangerous! Furniture, building products and tools are scary options. I could go on with endless examples.
So I think drawing long bow on the potential negative affects of any product or item is at best mischievous and at worst a dangerous and stressful habit.

I'm not happy about it because it uses a famous sports club to promote unhealthy food choices, but it's the reality of sports club sponsorships without which the clubs wouldn't survive. I'm sorry CHU are going because they were a good sponsor. Not sure why they left us but if it has anything to do with the racial controversies going on at the club, it highlights the importance of maintaining a clean corporate image at the club. We don't want to be associated with anything to do with the perception that the Collingwood Football Club discriminates against race or deals poorly with sexual equality issues.

Agree. I stand to be corrected by posters with a lot more expertise than me but didn’t Collingwood have an early reputation of not choosing indigenous players? I can recall Wally Lovett being the first indigenous player I saw play for Collingwood in the seventies. I remember being embarrassed about umpire James and Nicky Winmar among others being racially abused by the brainless Collingwood ferals in the Victoria park outer. I remember being asked many times whether I was embarrassed to be a Collingwood supporter as a dark skinned person. I’m extremely glad I stubbornly refused to give up on my beloved magpies but at times it was a very difficult ride to be on.

I have no issue with this.

I'm happy we've found a major sponsor after CGU decided to withdraw their support.

Personally, I don't like it. Industries that deliberately harm society such as fast food, gambling, tobacco, alchohol should not play a part in the sponsorship of any sporting organisation that want to promote good physical and mental health. It is contradictory, greedy and down right socially irresponsible for any organisation to do so.

Now.....will someone throw me a VB while I back #2 in race 5 at Doomben while sucking down a quarter-pounder cheeseburger and a stogie.

I think I have eaten KFC about 2-3 times in 54 years.

Awful shit.

They better stump up a lot of money to sponsor our proud club.
