Can't see KFC on the new member polo.

How bad is it!?! I won't be buying one, for the first time in I don't know how long. Why put a white hoop on it? Idiots.

Bit like having Ivan Milat promoting NSW tourism. Somehow seems to be an inconsistent brand message.

I do not see the issue. The players in preseason are often given chicken and chips during training as a carb load.

When we were affiliated with Williamstown the Williamstown season ticket had a 20 percent discount at KFC. No complaints.

You are kidding me. Thus is a farcical PR disaster — much worse than some realise, especially for an organisation with such a challenged standing already. It represents recklessly unaware leadership from any angle you bother to look. Organisational PR is not about individual views on things like diet; that's not the issue here. Reputation is about the standing, trust and gravitas banked by earnestly striving to be better; by reaching for something more and being trusted by the people who join you on that journey to deliver more often than not.

We're a reputation vacuum run by shameless dimwits. Cringe, just cringe. This lot surveyed the thousands of corporations out there, and the best they could do is damage the brand monumentally to land a sponsor? This is not just a slip up. It's four years on ongoing brand and reputational damage.

Who's responsible for this latest disgrace and undermining of our standing in football and the community? This is utter brand vandalism and a betrayal of the community and anyone with half a brain who has noticed it's the 21st century.

There couldn't be a more vivid example of how backward we are. Honestly, if we don't get rid of the old boy's fraternity running the club, we will never move forward. By god we're a disreputable laughing stock. It would be hilarious — if it were Carlton.

I feel sick, as if I've just eaten a bucket of you know what.

Not sure why they left us but if it has anything to do with the racial controversies going on at the club, it highlights the importance of maintaining a clean corporate image at the club. We don't want to be associated with anything to do with the perception that the Collingwood Football Club discriminates against race or deals poorly with sexual equality issues.

Yep, that was the reason.

To those upset by KFC, you know we're sponsored by Emirates right?
A quick look at Wikipedia:

Stoning is a legal punishment in the UAE. In May 2014, an Asian housemaid was sentenced to death by stoning in Abu Dhabi.
Amputation is a legal punishment in the UAE due to the Sharia courts.
Crucifixion is a legal punishment in the UAE.
Apostasy is a crime punishable by death in the UAE.
Homosexuality is illegal in the UAE.
Many of the low paid labourers are victims of human trafficking or forced labour while some women are even trafficked into the growing sex trade in Dubai, a centre of human trafficking and prostitution.

^Sporting heroes and sporting organisations pursuing excellence and community leadership just don't do KFC. It's not branding and PR rocket science.

You're actually right in a technical academic context. And to take it further, insurance companies like CGU write policies that cover people and firms who are linked to horrors like those you mention. It's a valid line of thought. The problem is that our brand is not engaging people in a context where that mode of thought is decisive.

We're a sporting organisation, not a democracy movement; health, fitness and diet are central to the entire endeavour and aspiration in everyone's mind — front and centre. And especially in this day and age of health, wellness and obesity concerns. People are looking for inspiration and leadership in this area from sporting heroes and organisations, like it or not.

Your response actually demonstrates why this is a complete branding fail. You've been forced into the realm of complex academic argument to defend face-value branding. But apart from three people doing doctorates in ethics and a few extreme groups who have disavowed mainstream society, no one else looking at KFC plastered over our jumper has your argument in mind. But now we're forever going to be defending our association with KFC in the strained way in which you've been forced. And that's a branding and PR fail by definition.

Interestingly, Newcastle United has gone a few steps further than our Emirates deal, and I think they'll pay the consequences (and hopefully have more people asking why European football has become a plaything of billionaire fossil fuels auotocrats).

But it's even simpler than all that. Given all of the corporations on the planet we might have courted, why the hell would supposed business professionals take a careless risk like that? The club is already struggling with a poor reputation, for goodness' sake. It's just so phenomenally stupid and clueless you ought to be beside yourself with rage.

Being unhappy with KFC does not equate to being happy with Emirates
