The obvious answer is that it was a political decision, and it's likely correct, but the fact remains that no other state or territory has reintroduced any form of mandatory restrictions, so the other options are that it's a unified national strategy or Dan is waiting for someone else to go first. .

Your assessment that the CHO's advice was incorrect (ie, that the decision to reject it was "likely correct") is predicated on what extensive knowledge of epidemiology?

That's not what I said, I made no judgement on whether the CHO advice was correct oe not

Well done you. I get no reaction from the flu shot, only got a sore arm from the 4th Covid shot and that was next morning, but only lasted a day or 2.

The point is reasonably simple.

Yes, Andrews ignoring the health advice is very likely motivated by him facing an election soon and not wanting a backlash, hence being politically motivated.

I have no opinion on whether that was a correct decision or not, but the fact remains that no other state or territory has reintroduced mandatory masks or other restrictions, despite many also facing large outbreaks and stretched health services, most likely also ignoring internal health advice, and none of them are facing an election soon.

That indicates that there are other reasons behind the decision. That's all.

Big effort, playing in a T20 cricket match and winning the Gold medal while positive with Covid.

The latest wave is behind us now, our fourth wave this year.

Official stats tell us there have been 590,000,000 cases worldwide, but I think the number is closer to 4,000,0000,000.

I could have ran 20km when positive. Felt worse after the jabs than I've ever felt with any; cold/flu/covid.

Well I’ve been off work with COVID for a week now and I still feel sick. It’s fine for younger people, they don’t seem to get as sick. I wouldn’t recommend the last week to anyone. Just sorry I didn’t get round to having the booster. It’s not just being sick, it’s the inconvenience and conflict with loved ones.

Hope you're feeling better. The person I was exposed to last week had an average few days but is feeling much better now.

My stepson was supposed to come over Saturday with his kids, he messaged me Friday saying that Covid and gone through his work and he was home on sick leave, not feeling great, asked me what I wanted to do. I said reschedule for 2 weeks, the old girl is a bit crook anyway. Saturday morning he messaged me, tested positive.

If it wasn't for the old girl, I would have had him over.

I thought anyone could get them now, but they only work if you get in really early.

The real covid death numbers?

Western Australia recorded 18 deaths where COVID-19 was the only condition listed on the patient’s death certificate in the first six months of its Omicron wave, data has revealed.

Australian Bureau of Statistics COVID-19 provisional mortality figures showed since Omicron began circulating in the community to June 30 the state recorded 902,000 cases and 192 deaths from the virus.

The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine WA chair, Dr Peter Allely, said it was more common for the virus to tip the balance of a person’s health, leading to death, rather than cause severe lung disease which would require ventilation.

“For nearly everybody, it’s just tipping the balance of their underlying medical condition much like any other infection would do, but just with a bit more vigour.”
