Draw. 4/147. Root kept bowling until there were only 5 balls left and 6 wickets required. Bonner 38 (from 138), Holder 37 from 101 and an unbroken partnership iof 80. Leach took 3 wickets.

I'd think Bonner must be POTM.

Correct P4S , Bonner Player of the match. Well deserved.

Cricket news wrote:

Playing nearly every ball defensively with the utmost of caution, the pair hunkered down, especially Bonner who took 34 balls to get off the mark.

But he and Holder were mostly comfortable, though the former had a scare when struck on the pad from spinner Jack Leach with 22 overs left.

Given not out on field, England captain Joe Root decided not to use his final review, a poor decision as replays showed the ball would have hit leg stump.

England put themselves in that predicament by earlier wasting a review on an lbw appeal that was not even close.

2nd Test @ Kensington starts on the 16th.

54 tests at the venue. West Indies winning 25 of those, 17 drawn matches and wins to the visiting side on 12 occasions.

Versus England - 16 matches, 6 wins to the Windies, 7 draws and 3 wins to the Poms, the most recent being in 2004.

The West Indies had a period of 60 years without losing a game here (1935-1994). Including 12 wins in a row from 1978 - 1993.

The last 7 matches have provided a result. 4 wins for the home team and victories by; Australia (2012), Sri Lanka (2018) & New Zealand (2014).

Should be a good game IMO, these sides look evenly matched. No odds available as yet.

Starts tomorrow. Looking forward to this one, not that I'll be able to watch much live up here at work.

Had a small wager on the home team @ $2.95 just for a bit of fun.

Stumps. 3/244. Holder got Lawrence for 91 with what would have been the second last ball - but became the last ball - of the day. Root is 119*.
