Collingwood could make a great argument for many players already mentioned here but the biggest injustice is the fact that Syd Coventry has still not been elevated to LEGEND status.
Captain of the only side to win 4 x premiership in a row
Brownlow Medalist
B&F winner
3 x Victorian State Captain
A legend of the era
He might not have had the post footy media career of Jack Dyer but for
all that I have read points to a player who was as big a name in football in the 1920’s and 30’s as anyone else including Dyer.
Syd Coventry not being elevated to Legend status is a travesty. _________________ - Side By Side - |

^ Absolutely agree. On top of that he was club president through the 50s and early 60s, which culminated in 2 premierships in that time.
He deserves recognition at the highest level. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

That Haydn Bunton (Fitzroy, Subiaco, Port Adelaide) was named in the forward pocket for the AFL Team of the Century ahead of Dick Lee still makes me see red, and a real head scratcher as how he could have possibly overlooked for that position.
Bunton never won any of his Brownlow's playing in the position.
While at Fitzroy, he was 2x leading goalkicker, he didn't once win the league goalkicking.
While at Subiaco, he was 4x leading goalkicker, he didn't once win the league goalkicking.
He kicked 427 goals over a 208-game career.
Dick Lee was a 11× Collingwood leading goalkicker: 1906–10, 1914–17, 1919, 1921.
He was a 7× leading goalkicker Medalist: 1907–09, 1914, 1916–17, 1919.
Collingwood Captain: 1920–21.
Collingwood Premiership side: 1910, 1917, 1919.
He kicked 707 goals over a 230-game career.
The selectors were Allen Aylett, Percy Beames, Bob Davis, Gerard Healy, Jack Irving, Bill Jacobs, David Parkin and Greg Hobbs.
Percy Beams would have been the only one likely to have seen Lee play. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)
