Post subject: Luke Hodge’s comments on Ginnivan on the beersReply with quote

“Critics were quick to support Ginnivan’s right to head out and socialise after a match, but AFL great Luke Hodge has questioned if the same support would be extended to a player at a struggling club.”

Seriously, Hodgy? 😂 If he thinks our players get preferential treatment, then he’s been out in the sun too long. I saw a few Hawks players out after a match recently having more than a few than Jack did 😂

he went out for a couple of beers with mates after the ANZAC day game, Fly was quick to point out there was no problems, but with a short break it was against team rules so the leadership group had a chat with him.

All good, he played well against the Suns so clearly wasn't sooking at having his nose pulled. Better to get in early to set standards than wait til there's a problem.

Another example for me of positive team culture.

This was handled well except the irony is that players like Adams and Moore are in the leadership group and have been shocking this season on the field. Their authority is weakened by their inability to perform you might think. Howe is not at his best but Pendles remains the one with the right to discipline any wayward behaviour like Ginnivan.

Hodgey is just trying to say that on a six day break, don’t do alcoholic beers, get on the nose beers if you want to be a 4 x premiership players. 😁

Haha!

It’s his comment that other clubs wouldn’t get away with it. Guess he doesn’t read the papers, particularly the past year 😂

Yeah good point.

And who cares what Ginnivan does as long as he performs?

We are sick of the holier than thou leadership group.

There was really nothing in it, complete media beat up. Pendles and Howe just had a chat with him about preparation during short breaks between games seeing as we only have six days until Richmond, that’s all. There was no angry kick up the bum stuff. Ginnivan had a few quiet ones with mates and went home at a reasonable hour, no biggie.

Well then it was only a matter of time for a Collingwood bashing that reeks of double standards, because at the same time under questionable circumstances according to some toffs you shouldn’t go drinking the afternoon away at a local QAFL finals match while injured and just down the road your own AFL club is preparing for a final of their own. This was Eric Hipwood at the Morningside footy club just weeks after he’s ACL injury at a club Hodgy frequences himself, not that it’s to important.

"On the eve of Hawthorn’s finals campaign in 2015, then Hawks captain Hodge was caught driving with a blood-alcohol reading on 0.068. Victoria Police hit him with a $450 fine and a loss of 10 demerit points."

Did you actually read or listen to what he said? Hodge's comments were supportive of both Ginnivan and the club.
