Another game where wayward shots on goal early gave the opposition a sniff. Have to get value for effort from our early dominance.
Love the tenacity of this side and our never give up attitude, very inspiring.

Pendles is a ripper isn't he?! Was looking a little out of sorts early, but really stood up and his class prevailed when it was needed most.
Murphy definitely adds some stability in the backline, his rise in form this year has been exceptional.

Hardwick’s ‘antics’ vs Ginnivan in the last quarter were disgusting. Wouldn’t expect anything less from a Sam Mitchell coached team.

I am surprised more hasn't been made of this. Hardwick looked to be upset with Ginnivan for something he did to the hawks player who had been tackled. I didn't see anything but will watch a replay.
Regardless, Hardwick's act joined Atkins (Geelong) and Mansell (Tigers) as weak as piss tough guys to have a crack at Ginnivan when he isn't looking. To make it worse, the umpire just stood there and watched it. If that's not biased umpiring against an individual, I don't know what is. Hardwick should be fined and the umpire sent out to the bush.

The over or under umpiring in Ginnivan is crazy

This is terrifying for the league if the umpiring department treats certain players accountable for the way they play. Predetermined thinking is flawed and dangerous. Ginnivan is only playing by the rules. If a free kick is there you pay it. adjudicate according to the rules.

Ginnivan getting elbowed in the head while on the ground almost weekly now. What happens when he gets his jaw broken and the club points out the afl has ignored this week and week?

Cameron's game was superb. One of the best games by a ruckman I've seen. He has become a brilliant pick up. Cox played his role. Nick Daicos will be our 'Pendles' for the next 12 or so years. Quaynor and Noble are both terrific hard running defenders, who are one grab players. Murphy played well again.

McCreery seemed to play a bit on the ball, which is promising. He is a beast. Reckon we need one more powerful inside mid, a role which Josh Carmichael might fill very soon.

Clearly we are still lacking a big bodied full forward, but I guess we'll have to wait until Krueger returns next year to fill that vacancy.

Boy oh boy, that Henry is a beauty! Overall, another gutsy win, which should have been much easier had we kicked more accurately in the first quarter.

Good Point.
I think Craig McRae either is, or should be getting ready to do this (on Monday).

This week's Umpiring memo had the heading: the head is no longer 'sacrosanct'. Not only is Ginnivan's head not important enough to be protected, the collective heads of supporters are interfered with on a weekly basis.

Whilst Fly is there, seeking some 'clarity', he could also ask about how a player who gets to the ball first (in the driving rain) can be penalised when another player chooses to fall on them (in the goal square). This also does my head in. Not tunnelling: first to the ball.

Great Win vs Hawks.

Best thing we did not need to Rely Totally on Steele and Pendles.

Kids especially Nick Daicos and Oliver Heney won us the Game

Fantastic win. Great character building win for the playing group.

Outstanding performance from Nick Daicos, which was his best to date thus far. Whenever he has ball in hand, you always feel confident he'll make the right decision and use it sensibly. I haven't felt like that about a player since Pendles first burst onto the scene 15 years ago. We have a special talent on our hands.

Cameron is progressing nicely, and gone up another level since Grundy's injury. He's had his detractors over the journey, but he's becoming a very good player for us. Knows where the goals are and competes well in the ruck, which will help ease the burden on Grundy when he returns.

Henry's an exciting player to watch. Still prone to poor moments, but the talent is undeniable. He's already becoming one of our best marks in the team and those two in the final quarter were massive.

McCreery's tackle in the dying stages was priceless. It might have saved us the game.

On the overall match, I think the game should have been out of Hawthorn's reach earlier, which was similar to last week with Carlton. It's a work in progress, but the players still need to be clinical and ruthless on the scoreboard when they dominate the opposition in general play.

Umpiring was terrible. I think we got the rub of the green in the first half, but they certainly did everything they could to even up the ledger in the second half. Ginnivan was taken around the neck on two or three occasions, and got nothing. Moore being penalised for the sliding rule enraged me at the time.

Been a very enjoyable year thus far. 7-5 (more wins than last year) and in the top 8 as it stands. Amazing how much can change in the space of the year.

Alrighty I watched a replay and I was harsh on De Goey, he played a good game — except for his pressure, I don’t think he laid a single tackle. That’s what I was grumpy about.

Stats sheet says 3 tackles and I think he might have even won a free for holding the ball on a couple of them…

I do take your point though - he’s certainly not the type of player that charges relentlessly every time the ball is nearby (maybe like a McReery or Maynard).

The thing about DeGoey is that his disposals are impactful.
You won’t see many backward handballs or funky lateral short kicks when he gets the ball. He had 21 touches for 470 metres gained, so that’s an indication he got bang for his buck. Big goal at the right time too. Would we like him to do more ? Yes but he’s still had a pretty decent season to date.
