What's to comment on? You seem to think I advocated Symond's selection in the WC squad ahead of Tugga whereas I didn't think he earned his spot at all.

Read back through my posts. You're just as incorrect about my opinion of Symonds as you are about my opinion of Steve Waugh.

With your reasoning, if there's an injury to a batsman in the WC squad, they'll have to send Motty now, eh?

How come runs scored in the domestic comps mean nothing when it comes to assessing Lehmann but you use a different yardstick when it comes to Waugh?

Incidently, Boof averages 53.85 in Pura/Sheffield and Tugga, 50.8

Lehmanns home is the Adelaid Oval.....lol Traditionally the best batting wicket in Australia.

I will have a field day if Australia does not win World Cup

Comparing Mott with Waugh is ridiculous.....seriously let go of the straws.

Mott = one good innings and has never represented Australia

Waugh = Test Captain, Captain of Australias World Cup winning team, Wisden Australia Cricketer of the Year 2000-01
Allan Border Medal 2001, World Cup winner in 1987.

Waugh has proven himself in pressure situations time and time again and is proven in foreign conditions.

He has not only become rated by many observers as possibly the world's most dependable contemporary batsman. A World Cup title and the production of an extraordinary streak of 16 consecutive Test wins also stand as powerful testaments to his capabilities as a leader. (John Polack, February 2002)

So please do not insult Steve Waugh anymore or any Steve Waugh fans out there by mentioning his name in the same breath as Mott or any similar players.

World Cup launched in style at Newlands
Keith Lane - 8 February 2003

Dr Ali Bacher, Executive Director of Cricket World Cup 2003, promised cricket lovers worldwide that the opening ceremony at Newlands in Cape Town would be the biggest event in the history of cricket and the largest production ever staged in South Africa.

Some were sceptical, but once again he was true to his promise with 25,000 spectators and an estimated 1.4 billion television viewers enthralled and entertained in a two hour live spectacular.

With extravagant costumes and dance routines the ceremony, hosted by comedian Marc Lottering, opened with scenes from a safari with guinea fowl, zebras, meer-cats, and a host of animals flowing into a colourful routine depicting the unity of the "Rainbow Nation" and its people.

The humour of life in the townships swept into the tides of the oceans that surround South Africa. Seven scenes in total, a celebration of the continent, the country and Cape Town.

Local artists accompanied the dancers in ethnic song, displaying the diverse cultures of the country brought together into unity as one nation and maybe closer than ever by the holding of the 2003 World Cup on home soil.

Malcolm Gray, President of the ICC, thanked the people of southern Africa for embracing the tournament with such enthusiasm.

"It is the largest sports event in Africa's history and the biggest cricket tournament that has ever been staged. The eyes of the world will be on Africa as you embrace the game and the players, mingling in a strange harmony of contrasts," he said.

Each team was warmly embraced by the spectators at the ground, with South Africa, looking to become the first winner on home soil, receiving tumultuous applause as they moved around the boundary before the South African President, Thabo Mbeki officially declared the ICC 2003 World Cup opened.

Well that's better JLC post a reply back instead of being all aggressive with me on msn! I know I drive people mad with my Slater talk just ask my family! However, I try to vary what I say about Slater whereas you have been talking about this one topic non stop! At least I say oh Slater is cute, Slater shouldn't have been dropped, Slater did this today, Slater did that today LoL I know not very interesting to most but hey! But you been going on about Steve and the World Cup for days and days arguing the same points! Just for the record I like Steve Waugh I love Steve Waugh ok!

Well Clokey, no wonder it was a small article because the writer was comparing apples with oranges.

Harvey is a bowling all-rounder. You can see how Steve rates his own bowling. He didn't bowl one over against Victoria while they were scoring 563!!
