We’re trolling the competition now 😂

^ One of the most entertaining things about today's win was Elliott's missed set shot from about 50 out, just left of centre. About a million Essendon supporters are eating their own livers after seeing that.

Yes!!!

^ Carmichael has been a revelation. Accurate 50m kicks, cool under pressure.

Grundy and de Goey back next week should improve our centre clearance game, which will be essential vs Melbourne, and hopefully checkers will be back. We’ll need it, minus Howe and Adams.

THAT match will be the Battle of the Bulge, war of attrition. Surprised

Great game from De Goey

It stank, though some things which seem inexplicable in the throes of passion were more understandable in cool retrospect. The first gifted goal, the first quarter 50m, and the lack of holding the ball against Port in the last quarter were all dire and cost us 18 points. Without those gifts we’d have cruised home. We really outplayed them most of the day.

23 points up early in the last qtr I thought to myself "Wouldn't it be nice to win this by 5 or 6 goals and relax with a quiet beer". I knew of course that this was never going to happen and so braced myself for a "Collingwood Sleepy Time" 15 minute period of allowing Port back into the contest. And, wouldn't you know it, this is what happened.

6 pts up with 61 seconds remaining. More than enough time for a draw or some kind of heart breaking 1 point loss perhaps with a freak 7 point play as they say. But!! Wait!! Instead of pacing around the room gripping on what is left of hair on top of my head I was super confident that we would hold on to that rock solid 6 point lead. So much so that I sat on my couch sipping on that quiet beer in full relaxation mode.

The Mighty Pies once again held on! And all is calm in the world.

Floreat Pica!

Loving these close games.
A side learns way more from winning tight games than they do from spanking teams.

This team is the real deal, bring on the D's.

I enjoyed that. Listened to the first half on the radio while doing jobs then watched the second half on the tablet.

Great to see Jordy back and playing well and Ginni proving he isn't a 1 trick pony and can genuinely play.

Actually thought the umps made the right decisions when it came to Ginnivan all day but fair dinkum the rest of the adjudication was absolute puss. Gifted 3 goals in the first q - two to Boak and a mark paid to Dixon from a god almighty shove. I don’t know what that first one was before even the bounce up. There would have been another 50 of those incidents through the game not paid (for both teams). I worry that these rookie umpires want to show every one they know the rules and insert themselves when a more experienced ump never would.

I’m not typically a “the umpires are crap” fan, but I thought the standard today was really, really poor.

On a far more positive note, another good win and we roll on. Jordy and Josh Daicos were very good, loved Carmichael’s contribution as the sub. Darcy Cameron also pretty good. I reckon he would have been in the best 5-6 rucks in the comp for the last month or two. Bianco had some poor moments in the first quarter but hung around and was better in the second half. Murphy also very very solid down back.

Hopefully Howe and Adams aren’t any worse than a couple weeks. Didn’t really see either.

Mate, you know, and i thiink your from my vintage, i honestly believe the umpiring was far better, fairer, back in the day, of just two field umpires, or even yep, way back, of only one umpire. Like the days of Jeff Crouch, and Bill Deller, John James, the aboriginal, it was better then, and if you check out old games on Utube from that era, it shows the myth of it being a much faster game NOW, is a myth, it was nearly as fast then too check out the old Grand Finals from the 60s and 70s, 80s. There are too many umps on the field now, and the rules by the AFL honchos make it even harder for them, and the fans, these constant rule changes. Plus, thanks to the Ginnavin fiasco, Umpires definitely have a set against the Magpies now, and the Club should lodge a strongly worded protest, or complaint, enough is enough . Surprised Confused

How’s Nathan Murphy going ? One day he will be afforded the rare luxury of playing on an opponent the same height as him and he will totally dominate a game in defence. It’s been a great story.
