I don't know if we thought Freo didn't present as much defensive accountability than say Geelong or Sydney, but there was clearly more intent to break the lines.
Crisp and JDG's meters gained was a noteable difference. While Noble was down on his usual efforts, collectiverly their line breaking dare and dash, coupled with our general team intensity just blew Freo out of the water.
While it didn't reflect on the scoreboard, we really put them to the sword in general play.

Not much can be added to what’s been said so I’ll add something maybe people missed
During the post match interviews in the rooms the camera moved quickly like it was looking for something
In the corner of the vision you see JDG sitting on the ground with 2 kids (not sure who’s kids they are but he was just sitting there with them
This says to me this is a player firmly committed to this club long term and happy and comfortable in his surrounds

Collingwood produced its most commanding performance of the season to defeat Fremantle by 20 points in front of 90,612 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Magpies got off to a blistering start with the first 4 goals while keeping the Dockers goalless in the opening term, which set up the victory from the outset with an opening lead of 23 points. The second quarter saw the Magpies dominate general play. but started to squander numerous opportunities, which forced them to settle for a margin of inferior severity, which was 28 points at half time. The trend of wastefulness continued in the third term, but the Woods eked out a couple of goals to gradually increase the lead, which got out to as high as 38 points and ultimately turned for home at three quarter time with a lead of 32 points. Collingwood scored 3 goals in the first 16 minutes of play in the last quarter, before the Dockers ate into the margin with consolation goals to conclude the game's proceedings, with the Magpies prevailing by 20 points, and secured their trip to Sydney to play the Swans.

Collingwood won a relatively frugal number of statistical categories by claiming intercept possessions by +9 (76 - 67), centre clearances were won narrowly by +1 (10 - 9), while Tackles Inside 50 had an advantage of +5 (14 - 9). Marks had a gap of +6 (87 - 81), with uncontested marks up by +7 (78 - 71), with Marks Inside 50 won by +7 (13 - 6), and +13 for Inside 50s (56 - 43). Fremantle won the lion's share of the statistical categories in areas such as disposals by +33 (364 - 331), kicks were won by +11 (216 - 205), handballs had a differential of +22 (148 - 126), while contested possessions had a margin of +9 (151 - 142), and +9 for uncontested possessions (206 - 197). Scott Pendlebury (24 disposals @ 75%, 181 metres gained, 15 contested possessions, 9 uncontested possessions, 8 intercept possessions, 8 kicks, 16 handballs, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 3 score involvements, 5 clearances, 4 stoppage clearances & 3 Rebound 50s) spent all of the game releasing teammates out into open space with his handpassing from contests allowing those teammates more time and space to kick the ball forward.

Jack Crisp (24 disposals @ 58%, 600 metres gained, 9 contested possessions, 15 uncontested possessions, 2 intercept possessions, 14 kicks, 10 handballs, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 7 score involvements, 6 clearances, 5 stoppage clearances, 7 Inside 50s, 2 Rebound 50s & 2 goals) was tremendously impactful in the midfield with forward territory being his main objective. Crisp supported De Goey brilliantly and was able to hit the scoreboard in a meaningful manner that gave his team control of the contest.

Patrick Lipinski (21 disposals @ 62%, 314 metres gained, 9 contested possessions, 12 uncontested possessions, 11 kicks, 10 handballs, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 2 Tackles Inside 50, 1 goal assist, 5 score involvements, 2 clearances, 2 stoppage clearances, 5 Inside 50s & 3 Rebound 50s) had stints up forward before being released into the midfield at other times during the game. Lipinski looked to surge the ball forward as often as possible to give the team a greater chance of scoring goals.

Steele Sidebottom (19 disposals @ 90%, 268 metres gained, 2 contested possessions, 17 uncontested possessions, 2 intercept possessions, 9 kicks, 10 handballs, 7 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal assist, 2 score involvements, 2 clearances & 2 stoppage clearances) played his customary role on the wing to perfection. Sidebottom kept his width for long enough so teammates coming out with the ball from defence were able to find Sidebottom as an outlet who took marks to maintain possession, before moving the ball aggressively as quickly as possible.

Josh Daicos (17 disposals @ 41%, 371 metres gained, 6 contested possessions, 11 uncontested possessions, 10 kicks, 7 handballs, 4 marks, 2 tackles, 3 score involvements, 2 clearances, 4 Inside 50s & 2 Rebound 50s) was solid without being dominant. Josh looked to conjure and produce territory with each of his possessions as a major contribution to the team's cause and outcome of the contest.

Nick Daicos (25 disposals @ 80%, 346 metres gained, 4 contested possessions, 21 uncontested possessions, 6 intercept possessions, 16 kicks, 9 handballs, 7 marks, 2 tackles, 4 score involvements, 3 Inside 50s & 3 Rebound 50s) displayed composure and footy smarts behind the ball by allowing himself the time and space he needed to make the right decisions.

John Noble (21 disposals @ 81%, 396 metres gained, 7 contested possessions, 14 uncontested possessions, 5 intercept possessions, 14 kicks, 7 handballs, 6 marks, 3 tackles, 5 score involvements, 3 Inside 50s & 3 Rebound 50s) provided great run and dare off the last line of defence yet again. Noble looked to kick long at every opportunity or move the ball by hand quickly to keep the ball moving and in motion.

Jeremy Howe (17 disposals @ 94%, 387 metres gained, 9 contested possessions, 8 uncontested possessions, 13 intercept possessions, 15 kicks, 2 handballs, 8 marks, 3 tackles, 2 Inside 50s & 4 Rebound 50s) stabilised Collingwood's defence with numerous intercept marks coupled with long and effective kicks coming out of defence.

Darcy Moore (15 disposals @ 93%, 289 metres gained, 7 contested possessions, 8 uncontested possessions, 8 intercept possessions, 7 kicks, 8 handballs, 2 marks, 2 score involvements & 5 Rebound 50s) showed tremendous courage to recover in time for the game after being crook for much of the week. Moore knew when to come off his direct opponent and impact the play and he was able to generate adequate rebound at all times.

Brayden Maynard (10 disposals @ 90%, 227 metres gained, 5 contested possessions, 5 uncontested possessions, 5 intercept possessions, 8 kicks, 2 handballs, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 5 score involvements & 2 Rebound 50s) maximised his game with impactful moments without a big number of possessions. Maynard was still able to take a handful of marks to hold his end of the bargain, which then enabled the team to regain territory.

Jamie Elliott (15 disposals @ 53%, 205 metres gained, 8 contested possessions, 7 uncontested possessions, 2 intercept possessions, 8 kicks, 7 handballs, 7 tackles, 5 Tackles Inside 50, 6 score involvements, 3 Inside 50s & 2 goals) had an excellent first half where he took his chances, while Elliott tackled the house down to increase his team's chances of scoring goals from turnovers and deny any meaningful rebound from the Dockers.

Will Hoskin-Elliott (12 disposals @ 50%, 182 metres gained, 4 contested possessions, 8 uncontested possessions, 2 intercept possessions, 8 kicks, 4 handballs, 5 marks, 2 Marks Inside 50, 6 score involvements & 2 Inside 50s) won enough of the ball and worked hard for his marks, but failed to convert his opportunities on a frustrating night for him.

Jack Ginnivan (11 disposals @ 54%, 206 metres gained, 4 contested possessions, 7 uncontested possessions, 9 kicks, 2 handballs, 5 marks, 3 Marks Inside 50, 2 tackles, 6 score involvements & 3 goals) made the most of his chances in front of goal to get his team over the line when he was required.

Collingwood's next game will be against Sydney on September 17 at the SCG. Put it all on the line, Woods! Quell the Swans at every opportunity and convert every goal on offer to get one hand on the cup against either the Cats or Lions.

Crisp was immense in this one, particularly early. Those daring runs through the corridor helped us gain an advantage in the territory battle. Great to see him doing this from the start, often he'd only start taking this type of risk late in the game when it was necessary.

Lipinski was also excellent, especially with his ball use.
